Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this charming and attractive MGA Roadster. This car is finished in it's very nice original color scheme of Olde English White with red trim with black top and carpets. This car was just purchased from a long term owner in St Louis, Missouri. The car was cosmetically restored just once in 1986, but is still presenting well with a very attractive "mellowed" look to it. This very genuine MGA has been garaged and maintained as necessary and has never been apart for restoration. The bodywork and panel fit on this car is very good, as it has never had a major disassembly. There is no evidence of any damage to the body, except to the lower valance panel underneath the front bumper. The paintwork is clearly older but nice. There's some touched-in scratches/chips in various spots, and a few minor dings to the driver's door, which had a poor repair at one time (picture). The car's paintwork has aged nicely, and still presents very well overall. There is a receipt for $3600 for a bare metal repaint in 1986...The car's interior trim has aged nicely also. It was restored some time ago, most likely along with the paintwork. The seats were retrimmed in the correct bright red leather, panel and carpet kit redone, and a quality black Robbins top fitted. The dashboard instruments are all functioning and look correct mounted in the simply painted white facia panel.Mechanically, the car is super. It is currently fitted with a 1500cc unit that was installed years ago, most likely when the original 1600 unit wore out. The engine starts quickly and easily on the key without any startup rattles or smoke, has good oil pressure to 50-60lbs, and pulls briskly through a fantastic shifting and quiet 4-speed gearbox. There are receipts dating back to 1985 documenting a full engine rebuild at around 76,000 miles.Brakes and clutch hydraulics feel perfectly fine. The correct 48-spoke wire wheels are fitted with a set of older Michelin XZX radial tires. The exhaust note sounds healthy. The engine compartment is nicely detailed and clean. It still retains the original wiring harness.Underneath, the car is largely in it's original condition, as it has never been cleaned. There is a small amount of some minor typical rust evident just starting along the inner rockers. All of the car's outer panels look fine. The car's trunk area is lined with some indoor/outdoor carpet. The car is sold with it's original jack and handle, aluminum sidecurtain set, crank handle, a lug wrench, spare rim and tire, old parts catalogs, and plenty of reciepts with some photos chronicling restoration work/maintenance/ repairs all the way back to 1977.Overall, a very well preserved MGA 1600 Roadster in fine running/driving condition. This cosmetically aged example still presents today in a lovely mellowed attractive state, where it's next owner car enjoy the car and have it look the same10 years from now. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. The description above is general in nature and not to be solely relied upon by buyer.
