1957 Barn Find MGA Just Out Of Long Term Storage
Description
Just out of long term storage. Vehicle has been in dry indoor storage since 1997. The car runs well coming up to 55PSI oil pressure and remaining there once warm. It runs without any noticeable oil smoke. The process of recommissioning it involved replacing the master cylinder, all wheel cylinders, clutch slave cylinder, brake light switch. The engine received new points, condenser, rotor, spark plugs, oil, filter, and carburetor cleaning. A new SU fuel pump and battery along with flushing the fuel tank. The vehicle drives reasonably well but needs much fine tuning and new tires. The tires are flat spotted old bias ply and not safe for anything other than going around the block.
The frame appears to be in good condition with no noticeable rust decay. The floors are still original wooden panels. There is small rust holes at the front of both rear wheel wells. Otherwise there is no noticeable rust in the body. Wiper, lights and starter function well and it appears as though it is charging the battery. The turn signal system was not brought to function.
Engine is a replacement and was gone through when it was installed in the 80's The extent of that rebuild is unknown though. There is no engine tag. The temperature gauge does not function as the capillary tube had been cut.
Very nice restorable MGA that could be an awesome winter project. Or just finish up the driving details and use it as-is!
