This has been a fun, simple way to explore classic car ownership!
If you're looking for an inexpensive first classic car, or just appreciate the simple mechanicals and timeless lines of this little British car, this MGB is just right for you. It gives the purest form of wind-in-your-hair driving in an approachable, stylish package that everyone just has to smile at. This has been my focus for the last few years, and I have invested an inordinate amount of energy getting this Pageant Blue beauty back in fighting form. However, just because I have spent so much effort and time does not mean this car is expensive to maintain or run. One search around www.mossmotors.com will show you just how simple and inexpensive it is to find parts, technical information, instructional videos, and a vast community of passionate enthusiasts for this wonderful little car.
While the odometer read approximately 42,000 miles, the odometer rolls back over to 42,000 every 1,000 miles. I purchased this MGB from the daughter of its first owner. She estimated that her parents put 80,000 miles in the over thirty years they owned the vehicle. They passed the car on to their daughter, who didn't drive it at all. This has been a "rolling restoration" for me. I have put approximately 5,000 miles on the car.

The below is a list of most of the things I have done since owning the car. It's entirely possible I'm missing something.With the exception of the distributor, EVERY BIT of this work has been performed by me, with the intention of fully enjoying the car for many years.
Engine, transmission, and drivetrain:1. Engine-out clean of the engine bay and various components.2. Reseal front of transmission3. Rear-main-seal replacement4. Lightened steel flywheel5. Cleaned, refurbished, and installed early (pre-1975) SU HIF4 carburetors6. Cleaned, painted, and installed early (pre-1975) cast iron exhaust manifold7. Cleaned, polished, and installed early (pre-1975) intake manifold8. Installed new K&N air filters and fuel filter9. Installed Tourist Trophy stainless steel exhaust system (downpipe, center straight pipe, and rear muffler box and tailpipe)10. Painted engine in cast aluminum11. Installed new cooling fan12. Installed new heater control valve13. Had distributor professionally rebuilt and recurved by Jeff Schlimmer of Advanced Distributors (the British distributor guru)14. Replaced spark plugs15. Replaced plug and coil wires16. Installed new driveshaft17. Removed emissions control equipment for more power18. Installed new heavy-duty clutch disk and pressure plate19. Rebuilt clutch master cylinder20. Installed new clutch slave cylinder and hose21. Installed new starter solenoid
Other external components:22. Installed new slotted brake rotors in front23. Installed new brake drums in rear24. Installed new brake cylinder in passenger rear drum25. Installed new brake pads in front26. Installed new brake calipers in the front27. Installed new brake shoes in the rear28. Installed new rubber brake hoses29. Installed new fuel tank30. Installed new horns31. Installed modern fuse panel with LED fuses from Bits for Brits32. Installed relay panel for horns, low beams, high beams, cooling fans, and heater fan from Bits for Brits33. Installed front dual telescoping hood struts from Pieces of Eight (allows hood to be raised approx. 80 degrees for easier access)34. Rewired front light, horns, and cooling fans, including modern Packard-style multiplugs for headlights
Interior:35. Replaced seat and headrest covers with quality vinyl covers36. Replaced center armrest cover with new vinyl37. Replaced gearshift knob with wooden knob38. Replaced shift boot with genuine leather cover39. Installed faux wood dash and console kit40. Replaced carpet in parcel shelf behind seats
Areas needing attention:
1. Driver's-side floorpan needs reinforcement or patch2. Small amount of rust repair on both rear corners by bumper3. Two small touch-up areas of paint needed on top of driver's-side rear fender4. Suspension has some polyurethane bushes, but probably is due for service again5. Passenger-side of dash has small tear that needs to be repaired6. Underside of hood needs paint (I have special-ordered automotive paint in paint cans in an exact color match that I will include with sale)
Overall, if you're not afraid of a little TLC then this little beauty will provide its next owner with years of carefree fun for minimal upkeep. I have done a vast amount of work so that the next owner can appreciate it thoroughly.
