1961 Mitsubishi CJ3B-J4 (US M606) Jeep, Diesel
Description
I am an active duty Marine who purchased this jeep in Okinawa, Japan and had it restored there. It is now in Arizona enjoying the hot, dry climate.
Thisis a Mitsubishi CJ3B-J4, a former Japanese militaryvehicle. For many years, Mitsubishi CJ3B's were in use by military forces all over the world, and are still in use by civilian enthusiasts. They were in common use by US forces in Vietnam (M606), and the veterans will recognize them, as they often do this one. Google "CJ3B Info" for a great page that will explain more than you could imagine on this topic. This vehicleis in great shape, is a very distinctive driver (not manyAmericans have one), and has a lot of life left in it.
The drive train, engine, transfer case, and transmission, function perfectly. Four-wheel drive is no problem. The generator was replaced with an alternator. All the canvas is original and is all there. The buckles are pretty rusty, but the canvas and plastic windows are still supple, strong, have no holes, and all the hardware is there. Brakes, axle bearings have been replaced. Body has been stripped, repaired (metal, no Bondo), treated and repainted OD Green.
It is not perfect. The tires are not new and will need to be replaced. There are a few small rust spots beginning to crop up (not serious now). The steering wheel is cracked, and the turn signals stopped working. BUT, that's really about all that's wrong with it.
Mileage is in Kilometers, and I don't know how many miles have been put on this vehicle since 1961. 50,000 is only a guess.
I will answer questions honestly. I want to sell and am pricing to move it. Let me hear from you if you have queries. Thanks and good luck!
