1966 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 Convertible “Survivor” 425 ci two door
This car is a “Survivor” all the paint, drivetrain, wheels, top, glass, interior, chrome pieces and bumpers are original.
It has gorgeous blue paint with matching blue vinyl interior, blue carpet and blue tonneau or boot cover that covers the top when the roof is down.
My mother-in-law bought the car new and owned it for 22 years and 40,000 miles. Her name is on the GM Protect-O-Plate with the date of 01 12 66. I assume the date is January 12, 1966 because her first oil change was March 31, 1966. The car has the original GM 1966 Oldsmobile Owner’s Guide, Canadian Edition.
My wife acquired the Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 from her mother in November 12, 1988. This car has less than 51,000 miles.
The original electric top convertible has a zipper glass rear window. The zipper has never been opened. The GM Convertible 1966 Folding Top Operation manual is also included. The top is easy to put up and down with a toggle switch in the dash and two latches. The electric hydraulic pump has been replaced. It is not original.
The car has two sets of two keys, one for the doors and the ignition, and one for the glove compartment and the trunk.
The radio is the Deluxe Model with push buttons and AM radio. It works but not well.
This car has Collector Plates for British Columbia, Canada. To qualify for Collector status, the car has to be maintained in good shape with all original parts. Upgrading the radio will prevent the car from having Collector Plates.
The drivetrain is the standard 425 cubic inch Super Rocket Ultra High Compression with a two-barrel carburetor with a 10.25:1 compression ratio. The original engine and air cleaner red/orange paint is slightly faded with mileage and time but still amazing!
According to the owner’s manual and the 1966 sales brochure this “Survivor” has 310 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and a torque of 450 pound-feet at 2,400.
The appraiser rated the condition as “Good” with the overall condition as a well cared for “original unrestored survivor car.” He described the car:
Body: no visible signs of rust or deterioration—some very minor dents on driver’s side and passenger side.
Paint: Paint is original to the vehicle
Engine Compartment: Appears as a daily driver
Bright Work: very minor marking—nothing serious
Chassis: Appears as a carefully driven and maintained 50K mile vehicle –exhaust appears to be very good
Convertible Top: Excellent original top—working ‘power’ top
Tires: 10 years old—should be changed for high speed driving
Our hope is this survivor car will be loved and driven. This Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 convertible is well cared for and driven as a daily driver as much as 51 years and 51,000 miles is a daily driver (i.e. 1,000 miles year).
