Ipurchased this car November of 2014 out of far southern Illinoisas a winter project. I got sick that winter and didn't get to it. The next few years got busy and I have not had achance to start on this as I have a few other projects in front of it. I recently sold my shop and moved, I have not built a new shop at my new place, so I don't have a good place to work on itcurrently. I havedecided to sell a couple of my projects, this being one of them. I amaskingexactly what I have invested in this car, not looking to make any profit, just a fair price to pass on to a new owner.
Clear title.
It is a pretty solid car. Only a little bit of surface rust here and there. Ibelievethe red paint is factory original. The black looks like it may have been added, or maybe repainted at one time. Not sure how they painted the two tone paint on the Packards, so it may be correct, but it looks like it was painted over the red or repainted at one time to me. There may be a little rust in the front corners of the floors, but you can't tell for sure until the carpet is removed and it is cleaned up. It will be minor if any. There are a few small holes in the rear pass side quarter dogleg. Trunk, floors, frame and body are overlay very solid. You can see in my photos, theunderside of the car looks good. The hood hinge on the pass side was stiff and caused the hood to crack, see photo. The hinge spring is in the trunk Ibelieve.
Packard is 99% complete. The original Cadillacstyle batwing air cleaner is in the trunk, along with an extra taillight, with good lens to replacethe one broken. The only thing missing on the car is a small piece of trim at the rear quarter panel. I took a photo to show. It mayactually be in the car somewhere, but I have neverreally looked for it. I do not know where I put the ignition key when I moved and Idon't have a key for the trunk. The trunk opens with any old chevy style key pretty easily.
I had this car running three times sinceI have had it. The motor sounded fine. Carburetorneeds a rebuild for sure. Exhaust is pretty much shot. I drove it off the trailer back in 2014. I had it running again around 2016 briefly when I wanted to move it and I fired it up some time in 2017 also. Last time I ran it, the battery cables were pretty bad. It will need new cables for sure if you want to fire it up again. The gas tank is removed and was cooked out just prior to when Ibought it. It is in the back seat.I am selling this car AS IS. I am not going to get it running and you are buying it at my word that the motor is able tofunction.
Brakes are not working, the mastercylinder is froze. Hard lines appear to be solid.
Tires hold airjust fine. They are really cool old triple stripe white walls. They are dry cracked, but have great tread.
Use the photos to tell the story. This is a really good project thatcould be cleaned up and driven as is for the patina look, or a really decent start to a full restoration on a rare, fairly well optioned Clipper.
I will gladly work with overseas buyers. I will consider delivering the car for a fee up to 1000 miles. Any deliver terms must be made prior to bidding please.

Clipper emerges as a distinctive second line for Packard in 1955. Custom is the top of the three-tiered line-up, with the most obvious step-up from Super being interior trim. The 55th Junior Series models are a major facelift of the 1951-54 shell, but trunk lid, rear bumper, and taillights are carried-over from previous Series. New back-up lights are now standard on this model and integrated with the taillights. Helmswheel ornaments adorn throughout. Curved door molding creates a natural cove for more dramatic, though optional, two-tone paint scheme. Rear fender skirts are not available, due to unique lower moldings for this model, which extend from rocker panels, over rear wheel openings, and to rear bumper. All-new V8 engine is standard, with upgrade to new Twin Ultramatic automatic or overdrive manual transmission available at extra-cost. All-new Torsion-Level suspension is optional, but was likely factory-installed on all examples of this model
