1967 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible V8 45,000 Mile ORIGINAL MILES restored!
Description
Thanks for looking at my beautiful 1967 Sport Fury. I am a Boston-based car collector- not a dealer. This car is legally registered and titled in my name and on the road now.
This is a completely amazing TIME CAPSULE of a car. 45,000 ORIGINAL MILES. The dash is clean and original, the interior vinyl seats and door panels are ORIGINAL. In fact- when was the last time you saw ORIGINAL splined hubcaps on a 67 Sport Fury? I don't think I ever have- always Cragars. This car has all four ORIGINAL factory hubcaps. The convertible top is recent and perfect save for one small slice on the passenger side (Easy fix). The rear glass window is in great shape. Just looking at the original details on this car- there's just no other way to find those than on a car with this kind of mileage.
Only around 3,000 Sport Fury Convertibles were built for the 1967 model year versus far more of the cheaper base Plymouth Fury convertibles and around 350,000 Fury autos of all kinds. Maybe a few hundred remain, and of those I would tend to think this is among the top ten left in the States. Don't confuse this with the much, much cheaper and more plentiful Fury III. Different car.
I consider this car "restored" since the front and rear bumpers were rechromed and the car received a very BIG money laser-straight respray as well as a new convertible top, hydraulic rams and top motor. The carpet has been replaced as has the exhaust. Motor and trans were removed and serviced by the previous owner. Was told the heads were rebuilt and certainly the car starts right up, burns no oil, does not drip and runs like a new car. The black tonneau cover fits perfectly and conceals the top when down. When you add up all the work done here, Just the restoration costs dwarf my asking price.
The car is equipped with the original 318 V8 and three speed Torqueflight automatic transmission. The motor fires right up and settles into a smooth idle right away...even when cold or hot. The car has a brand new (60 miles ago) custom made Magnaflow exhaust, so it has a hot rod rumble that sounds like a big block, but melts away into a steady hum at highway speeds. Delightful!
In general I consider this the best driving car in my collection, and if I was not up to my neck in a 1964 Cadillac convertible restoration i would keep this one forever. The convertible top goes up and down flawlessly, power brakes are perfect, power sterig is perfect, and the brand new tires ensure the car goes down the road like a new car! Would love to keep this one but with my warehouse storage space about to change i have to sell something!
The car looks fantastic and has won me a few ribbons at local shows. The only things it needs are to have the original and rare AM/FM Transaudio radio repaired (Just died recently) and the clock repaired. Some of the interior chrome, like the parts that the top locks into show some light pitting, and the original vinyl shows wear, but really not bad. The paint is almost completely perfect save for some marks and scratches on the rear deck just behind the convertible. I think a wet sand and buff would cure it. But for paint issues- that's really it. The dash moldings are all there and in good shape. Dash pad has NO cracks anywhere. There is no rust whatsoever on any sheetmetal. This car is a ROCK SOLID investment.
Hagerty has Sport Fury's for 1967 valued at $41,000 for a #1 car! This car is an interesting spec. It's a 318 but with a factory 4 barrel carb and air cleaner. I would think this is EASILY a mid to high $20,000 auction car... but hey.. I'm a realist. I know the 318 is still looked upon as the base motor, even though this car goes GREAT. I think my ask is VERY fair for what this car is. I have a Best Offer attached, so if you have a good offer and have the cash- I promise I will consider it. Yes I know some very tired late 60s Plymouths can sell for very short money- THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE. This is a dead-straight 45,000 mile car with great paint that runs and drives like new.
I am located a half hour west of Boston. You can come see the car weeknights or weekends. Feel free to call if you have any question- My name is Jay and the number is (remove the xxx's) xxx774xxx208xxx7369xxx
