Description

1957 Pontiac Star Chief 4-Door Pillar-less Hardtop RE-LISTED since many bidders requested a video and more pixs...So we finally got a crude video to view for you here: youtube.com/watch?v=XRKt3WAGM3w&feature=youtu.be (put that in your browser window). Ebay me for more info or pixs to your email....or call 605-threeninethreetwotwothreetwo.
Looks like shipped here from Cuba....Lots of patina with the original paint and interior and the good running 347 Cubic Inch 270 HP engine with the correct 4 barrel carb. Automatic transmission good in Park, Neutral, First, and Reverse (Reverse takes it's time to engage) but it can't seem to up-shift so far. Vehicle sat over 25 years so perhaps tranny will come around? The logical plan is for the new owner to invest in a 700R overdrive tranny and disc brake conversion so you are ready to cruze the highways.
Work done to date included: installed all new weatherstripping around doors, windows and trunk lid. All window regulators, latches, hinges and locks cleaned and lubed. Electrical checked with repairs to lights, switches, and wiring. Carburetor disassemble, cleaned and kit installed. Fuel pump disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled. New water pump, hoses & antifreeze installed. Tune up kit installed plugs, wires, cap, points, rotor.
Floors and trunk were surface rusty, cleaned and scrubbed and coated with Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer then installed new Maroon indoor-outdoor carpet everywhere. New brake shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder installed but apparently still needs power bleed.
Work still needed: Gas tank needs to be flushed and cleaned. Runs on a little gas tank by radiator presently. All factory tinted glass REEL good except cracked windshield. UPDATE: IF bidding progresses over $2900, Will include NEW in BOX correct tinted windshield, plus front and back glass rubber weatherstrips. Regardless, will definitely include several extra parts shown in pixs.. including lower rocker stainless strips, hubcaps, antenna, kick panels. Clear current title in my name with payment in full.We got the engine running it sounds reel good with those old glass pac dual exhausts. All the drivers and passenger windows roll down and up nicely. All the doors, trunk lid, and hood close nicely with the doors all solid no sloppy hinges and the perfect 'clunk' when closing the doors. Sorry the radio don't seem to work probably needs a 0Z4 tube. 15" wheels and tires all hold air, rolls good, e-brake works good.Added pixs of the universal seat covers over original seats. Mostly complete...someone stole the cig lighter. 1st year for bullet-proof Pontiac rear axle. Includes a stick to hold up hood as occasionally it won't stay up on it own. Working original keys for ignition, doors, and trunk included. Power steering works good. Original patina paint. Ask questions before bidding. No zero-history bidders please. Bid what you can afford and expect to pay if you win. PS a similar but homely 1957 Pontiac 4 door sedan recently sold for $3.3K in MN and it don't run!
