Description

1974 Pontiac Grand Prix ONE OWNER ONLY 68,195 MILES FROM NEW ORIGINAL PAINT AND INTERIOR Original Purchase Invoice, Manuals, Delivery Inspection Report 6.6L 400ci 4BBL V8, Dual Exhaust, Turbo-Hydramatic VIN: 2K57T4P256137 2: Pontiac K: Grand Prix 57: Two Door Sport Coupe T: 400ci V8, 4BBL, Dual Exhaust 4: 1974 Model Year P: Pontiac, Michigan Assembly Plant 256137: Production Numbers Trim: Oxblood Cloth (287) Paint: Cameo White (11) Build Date: Third Week of May, 1974 We purchased this time-capsule of a ‘74 Grand Prix from a gentleman in Littleton, Colorado who had owned the car since new. He had traded in his ‘68 Olds for it, and brought home his new Grand Prix in July of ‘74. We love survivor cars like this, especially when they still have all the original documentation with it. Despite being an unrestored Colorado car, it’s nice and dry. Very impressive condition inside, out, and underneath….a testament to the original owner’s enthusiasm towards the car. Exterior: Please see the video along with the listing, as the car is shown in detail. Blemishes are all shown close-up. Original Cameo White paint on every panel. Paint gauge shows readings on 2.4-2.7 all over the car, with the exception of a spot on the lower driver’s rear quarter that was once taped off and sprayed and reads about a 5 on the elcometer. That spot blends in very well and is easy to miss, but a trained eye can pick up on it upon close inspection. White partial vinyl top is very nice, with no bubbled corners or discoloring like we so often see. Weatherstripping is pretty tired inside the window channels. Filler panels are nice and intact, not wavy, cracked, or discolored. Polished surfaces and bumper rubber are excellent throughout. No oxidation, mirror-like finish. This car has been garage-kept since the day it left Pansing Pontiac of Littleton and it shows. Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Glass all has a light tint. Wheels are in excellent shape. A few tiny little chips/dings, but overall they look great. Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires are relatively new. No dryness or visible wear. Interior: Again, please defer to the photos and video. Interior is pretty impressive. Oxblood cloth shows no punctures, fraying, or burst seams. Both front and rear are very nice. Headliner is clean and tight. Dash does have one crack in the center, as visible in the photos. The car will also come with a red velour dash cover. Power windows are functional. Radio with 8-track is functional. CB radio is functional. Heat and fan are functional. Air conditioning system remains on R12 refrigerant (has not been converted to R134a) and while the compressor does kick on, it’s so cold in Chicago at the moment that honestly we cant tell if it’s AC-cooled air coming through the vents or not. Lights and signals are all functional. Gauges are all functional with the exception of the fuel gauge, which stays pegged at full. Gauge faces are nice and clear, not foggy or scuffed up. Odometer is functional and reading of 68,195 is known to be accurate. Red carpeting is in good shape not excellent shape. Not frayed or excessively worn, but the sills are nicer than the pedal box, for example. Red floormats are very nice. Side note, this car has period security system – the driver’s seatbelt needs to be clicked in in order for the car to start. Underbody/Under the Hood: Please take a look at the underbody photos, as the car is documented in detail. Really, really impressive shape for an unrestored lifelong Colorado car. And it’s not even undercoated! No through rust, nothing more than very minor surface rust. No damage or exhaust leaks either. While there was some gunk and grime on the underside of the motor when we first put it up in the air, we wiped it down, exercised the car, then let it sit and do not see any active leaks. The car runs and drives very well. There’s a slight hesitation when first getting on the throttle, which gets better as the car warms up but does not go away completely. Aside from that tendency, the car drives great. Starts right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls hard through the gears, shifts smoothly and on time, tracks straight, brakes straight and effectively, and had excellent ride quality. No shakes or odd noises. Buy with confidence. This is one of the good ones. With any further requests, questions, or to discuss purchasing, please contact Jake at Chicago Car Club at 773-303-6122 or .
