1965 Grand Prix restoratoin project
Description
I bought this 65 Grand Prix 2 years ago from the grandson of the original owner. It had never been taken apart, restored or even repainted. It was and is a very complete car. It came from central Washington State which is a dry climate and spent most of it's live there.
It's a clean body. I also bought a 65 GP parts car just for odds and ends and for the hood. The original hood had a hole cut in it (?). There is also cuts at the rear shelf speaker hole. Otherwise no modifications done to the car.
I've done all the work myself in my spare time. No work has been farmed out nor has anyone else been involved in it to this point.
The car is quite solid but not completely rust free. I installed a very nice trunk floor from a doner car otherwise all metal is original and just required fabrication.
The 389 and TH400 transmission and open rear are all matching number. I removed the heads to inspect. Standard bore. Engine and trans worked well, but should be overhauled.
New parts installed: rear brakes, front brakes, brake hoses, rear wheel bearings and axle seals, front springs, rear springs, all suspension bushings. Rebuilt original steering gear, rebuilt original tilt steering column. All new brake and fuel lines.
Options are, tilt wheel (good) power antenna (works). AM/FM radio (worked) Reading/map lights (work and in great shape). Remote mirror.
I have every part, hardware, trim for the car except the windsheild and hubcaps. I have doubles of a lot of parts too..like bumpers, grills, moldings, etc.
Im selling because I've ran out of money. I have more invested than I'm asking. This is a super nice car. Jambs, cowl and underside of deck painted already in the original Nightwatch Blue single stage color. Dash is repainted the original Navy Blue. Seats, console, etc all original and in decent chape but should be reupholstered.
Finally, please ask questions and if you want pics of parts, or whatever on the car, just ask. This is a super solid platform for a very nice, but not perfect 65 Grand Prix. Has original 14x6 wheels and skirts
Good WA state title. Car rolls and steers very easily. No brakes!
