Description

1974 PORSCHE 914 2.0 Sunflower Yellow w/Appearance Group

This wonderful 1974 Porsche 914 2.0 equipped w/rare factory appearance group (chrome bumpers w/fog lights; fuchs wheels; center console w/gauges) is all original except for one re-paint many years ago in the factory correct sunflower yellow paint color. It has been driven approximately 65K miles since new and less than 3,000 miles over the past 20 years Given the documentation that I have, supported by the exceptional condition of the original interior, I believe the mileage to be accurate. However, because I have not owned the car since new, I cannot fully guarantee its authenticity 100%. Having said this, it is a great car, born in the best year, in the best state, with the best options and, in my opinion, wearing the most desirable color combination. In addition, this 914 has always been garaged and has never had any rust!

A little history…. This is a California car from new and retains its blue/yellow CA plates. It was delivered brand new to the original owner at Anderson-Behel Porsche/Audi in Santa Clara, CA on March 23, 1974. After driving it 4,711 miles over the first year, he sold it to the second owner. This gentleman would enjoy the car (in San Leandro and then Stockton) for the next 32 years. In 2007 he sold it to its third owner in Sacramento, CA. He rarely drove it over the next 10 years (life got in the way). When he retired, I purchased it from him. It hadn’t been started in about four years. I had my mechanic recently address all the typical issues associated with a car that hasn’t been driven in a while and then some. It now runs and drives like a 65k mile car should! This is a great little 914 2.0 and is simply waiting to be enjoyed by a new Porsche enthusiast!

The interior…. To the best of my knowledge it is 100% original and in “time capsule” condition. Everything from the like new, crack free dash to the door panels/pockets, carpet, seats, trim, gauges and even the original factory steering wheel are in absolutely superb condition! The radio has been upgraded to a CD unit stereo, but still retains the original factory speakers.

The exterior…. As mentioned previously, it has had one nice quality re-paint many years ago. It looks absolutely beautiful from 10-15 feet away, but it definitely has incurred its share of nicks, chips, scratches and door ding type imperfections over the years. Perfect it is not! I took my pictures from about 10 feet away for the most part, so as to give you an idea of how it would look in your driveway from the same distance. So, up super close you will see the aforementioned imperfections. From a short distance away, it looks stunning! Its that type of car. This 914 2.0 can definitely be driven proudly AS IS, or for the perfectionist, it is simply a paint job away from being a spectacularly original, rust free, low mileage, show car. You decide!

Mechanicals…. Runs and drives great! The transmission shifts/downshifts flawlessly in all gears even when cold. The clutch feels like new as well. The brakes are brand new all the way around. It just received a full service including oil change, new spark plugs, new points, etc. It also has a new battery, coil, distributor, fuel pump and fuel lines and starter motor. It also had a full transmission service using Swepco oil. This 914 has been used sparingly for many years. It now needs to be driven and enjoyed. I have driven it about 20 miles since it was brought out of hibernation and serviced. It runs and drives beautifully, but like any vehicle that hasn’t’ been driven for a period of time like mine, it may need some further minor sorting in the future in order to make it mechanically perfect again. The clock does not work and it is missing the spare tire and jack.

Overall, this car has all the “right stuff.” It is arguably the best year, model, color, coupled with the most desirable factory option - the appearance group. The new buyer of my 1974 914 2.0 is going to be very pleased with his/her purchase.

Reason for selling…. My wife and I just finished having our vacation home on Cape Cod fully remodeled and will be starting an extensive remodel of our home here in Granite Bay very soon. Costs between the two projects are much more than we had anticipated (what else is new?) so I will be selling this 914 and a handful of other vintage cars from my modest collection. My Porsche 914 2.0 is currently registered through August 2018 and is, or course, titled in my name.

Please feel free to view my Porsche 914 in person before the auction ends. I am retired and available to show it at your convenience. If you are unable to view my 914 and are uncomfortable with purchasing it sight unseen, then please do not bid. This would be unfair to other legitimate bidders who don’t have a problem with this process. Please note that I have a 100% positive feed back history on eBay over the years. Payment in full is due within 72 hours of the end of the auction. No exceptions. When your cashiers check has cleared with my bank (Wells Fargo or Chase) then you may make arrangements to have it transported from my home in Granite Bay (near Sacramento) to your home.

IMPORTANT: I WILL NOT BE RESPONDING TO ANY EMAILS. SIMPLY CALL ME DIRECTLY WITH ANY QUESTIONS @916-220-2460 THANKS!
