Description

1981 Porsche 928 Strosek Wide Body III. 5-Speed manual. 47,650 miles.Wide Body conversion by Strosek. Diamond blue metallic paint over black leather. Custom sport exhaust and 3-piece wheels. The rear tires are 315/35ZR17 Goodyear Eagle F1's, the front tires are245/40ZR17Hankook Ventus V4ES. The steering wheel is a Personal Design Giugiaro (Porsche emblem missing), which I believe is made by Nardi. According to paperwork in the glove box, the car has lowering springs and antiroll bars by Weltmeister, shocks by Koni, stainless steel headers, and racing camshafts.

  • This car has a clean Autocheck history with 3 estimated owners.

The car runs and drives well, it is very powerful and sounds incredible. The car has a good battery (dated 2/15) that holds a charge well. The transmission has a tendency to pop out of first gear, and a I believe at least one other gear (3 or 4) might have a similar issue (the car is not insured for road use at the moment, so I wasn't able to refresh my memory on the upper gears before creating this listing). The suspension and tires seem great, and it seems a small fortune was spent on these items at one point. The engine appears to be correct for the year, but I'm not sure if it is original to the car. I was told by the previous owner that it is an 'S' motor, but I cannot confirm. The engine number is M28/19 81D0844.

The body and paintwork are very nice. There are a few bumps in the wheel arches (see photos), and a couple small fiberglass imperfections here and there. But overall the exterior has been well preserved. The interior is a bit dirty and tired, and seems to have been modified with speakers and amps over the years. The leather on the instrument binnacle is dried up.The passenger power window does not work, but I applied voltage directly to the regulator motor and the window is now stuck closed. The headlights go up and down, but there is some sort of electrical fault and they don't stop moving. The air conditioning equipment is present, but the air from the vents is not cold.

Paperwork for the car seems to indicate that the car is highly modified. Unfortunately I can't confirm the details. I believe the owner listed on the upgrade list was the owner back in the early 2000's.
