This is a 1961 Porsche 356B Super 90 T-5 Coupe. The car was originally located in the Pacific Northwest before it was sold to a Canadian collector and imported to Canada in 2005.It was sold to a second collector in May, 2006 and finally to the Seller in August, 2007 and it remains in Canada at this time.A Certificate of Authenticity was obtained from Porsche which confirms that the engine and transmission are original and numbers matching and that the paint and interior remain in their original colors.
The original collector is a Pebble Beach-winning builder and owner who has a noted penchant for sourcing and acquiring cars based on their state of preservation. He sought and purchased this T-5 Super 90 for that reason as the car displays a number of the features which qualifies the vehicle as a significant survivor. With the exception of an older repaint in its original color, reupholstered front seats and replaced carpet, the car is in original condition and still retains the factory-applied paint in the door jams, dash and backs of all closing panels.A true measure of body condition on older Porsches is panel fit, with proper gaps on this car and all undamaged 356’s in the range of 3-4 mm.All of the body panels are original and are stamped with the build number of the car.In particular, the front hood, despite having suffered an unfortunate storage mishap which resulted in a spot repair to the paint, remains closely fitted.
No modifications or significant repairs have been performed on the car while in Canada, and the car shows wonderful patina throughout including original sound deadener material in front and rear compartments and original brightwork. The car is very solid but does display underbody rust in typical 356 areas (battery tray and floor corners) as evidenced in detail in the photo gallery noted below. There is also evidence of upper body rust at the back of the front fenders with door sills and door jambs largely unaffected.Detailed photos can be viewed at the following link:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1M-F-Ui2SBA7VxmSm_pvshKYV3p8wW55F?usp=sharing
The odometer displays 21205 miles as the current mileage, although the correct mileage cannot be ascertained. The seller has added less than 200 miles although the car’s engine has been started regularly. The engine runs well and experienced regular oil changes, including one recently. The engine compartment is untouched and the engine/transmission shows only minor leaks. The transmission shifts well and, based on the level of performance of the car it is presumed that the basic mechanicals were rebuilt at some prior time, but no documentation exists to support this.Brakes were renewed in the early 2000s, and new Kumho tires were fitted at that time as well and the Seller has installed a new battery. The car retains a Blaupunkt AM/FM/Shortwave radio and correct speakers, with a dashboard and instrument panel which looks largely untouched. The original jack is included and lap belts were installed in 2005.
The car is located in Canada but was not registered in Canada at any time and will be sold on a Bill of Sale.Available documentation includes the original Washington State title documents (which trace ownership in that region back to the early 90s) as well as copies of Bills of Sale among the subsequent purchasers. The car is free and clear of any encumbrances and is sold without warranties on an as-is-where-is basis.
