1963 Porsche 356B Coupe - Original engine and transmission
Description
This 1963 Porsche 356B coupe retains its numbers-matching 1,582cc flat-four. The sale also includes a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a copy of the original title, and a current clear title in my name.
The Karmann-built body was repainted once in its original Champagne Yellow, reportedly in the 1980s per information from the original owner.
Body-colored bumpers retain their chrome overriders. Glass remains factory-installed according to information passed on from the original owner, including the optional green-tinted windshield. Rubber seals are tired throughout, with some showing tape lines from the 1980s paintwork. Badging includes a riveted-on Porsche script, as well as a single Karmann emblem on the right fender.
Brown leatherette upholstery looks to be in nice shape along with the door panels, carpets, and rubber mats. The original radio is included in the sale but not currently installed.
Power comes from the numbers-matching 1,582cc flat-four, which was professionally rebuilt in 2010 with new pistons, cylinders, bearings, push rod tubes, and other replacement items. Cylinder heads were resurfaced and received new valves, springs, and guides. The 4-speed manual transmission received a new clutch disc, pressure plate, and release bearing. Other concurrent work included stripping and resealing of the fuel tank, carburetor and fuel pump rebuilds, fresh oil lines and gaskets, new ignition parts, and more.
A variety of underbody photos show the general condition of the drivetrain, suspension, pans, and undercoated chassis parts.
The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity matches the engine number stamped into the block along with confirming the original color and trim options.
Records include a $13k receipt for the 2010 engine rebuild and other work. The tool kit, owner’s manual, and period PCA literature is also included .
