FULLY READ THIS

We have owned this Porsche since around 2003. It has always been garage kept since the day we bought it, as well as covered with an all-season cover when it wasn’t in use. We have done regular maintenance on it as needed, and the time has come to sell in light of a recent engine problem.

Back in 2012, the car was taken to Farmer Automotive in IN (a supposed experienced and competent Porsche mechanic). We spent around $12K for a full engine rebuild/refresh. Afterwards, the engine was properly re-broken back in according to his stipulations. The engine has had less than 3K miles put on it since the rebuild. In 2017, it suddenly developed a very loud knock. We recently took it to another Porsche mechanic, Pat Williams Racing in TN, who opened the engine to determine that Farmer’s excessive use of anaerobic sealant had impeded oil circulation and caused the knock, but that Farmer’s incompetence had affected most of the engine. The engine was torn down and cleaned thoroughly. However, Pat has stated that it will require a new crankshaft, a new cam, some new piston heads and connecting rods (not sure if all of them are bad), and a new cam tower. The heads will require rework as well as the cylinders. The engine case is still viable, as well as all of the external engine components (i.e. fuel system, etc). The engine ran fine until the internal issues developed.

We couldn’t continue with the rebuild at Pat’s because of lack of funds, so he bolted the engine components back together and remounted the engine in the car for transportation. All of the internals and everything he removed are in plastic bins inside the car.

We can no longer afford to repair it and we are ready to move on to something else. While the engine has been broken down and extensively cleaned, the buyer must understand that this vehicle will require further work and components. Or you can swap in another engine and you’re good to go.

About the car:

-Guards Red exterior with black leather interior (I believe it has the Sports seats)

-Manual Transmission

-Around 74K miles

-Includes optional Turbo “tea tray” tail, front spoiler, and fog lights. Also has original 16” Fuchs wheels

-The vehicle will be sold with its all-season car cover and full front leather bra

-Also Included: new Porsche radio head unit w/ Apple cord, new front genuine Porsche emblem

-Overall, it has a clean interior, save for the wear on the drivers seat

Known Issues:

-Engine Disassembled

-The sunroof needs some work to function properly (probably re-grease the tracks). The trunk/hood struts have worn out and need replacement, so they don't hold the hood/trunk open like they should.

-The paint on the car is less than perfect. The front nose of the car was repainted a few years ago to correct rock chips from years of driving, but the rest of the vehicle from the windshield/doors back has paint issues/some fading. See pictures. The car has never been in an accident during our 16 year ownership.

-The odometer gear is broken, so the mileage is off by a few hundred miles. I have the replacement gear, it just needs to be replaced. This is a common issue with old 911s.

-It needs a battery

-The drivers door stay needs replaced

I have done my best to describe issues I know exist but understand that the car is 39 years old, it is not perfect and other imperfections/wear and tear exist from years of use.

If you have additional questions, please ask. I can provide additional pictures upon request if there is something you are curious about. The car is being garage kept and rolls fine. All of the parts that come with it are packed up in the car.

Buyer agrees to purchase this car as-is, understanding that it needs additional work to run and drive. Buyer agrees to send a non-refundable $1,000 deposit within 24 hours of the end of the listing. Buyer will need to arrange for shipping or pick up. Once the full payment for the car has cleared, I will release it for pickup.
