Description

1977 SAAB 99 EMS w/factory sunroof

SAAB's boy racer Q ship of the day. A true driver's car, not a pretender

Estate garage find, low mileage survivor, super clean. In dry storage and not driven since 1992. little used since.

Sterling Silver Metallic, 2 door, 4 speed, 4 wheel disc brakes, 2.0 liter single overhead cam, Bosch

CIS fuel injected K Jetronic, front wheel drive.

"EMS" designates SAAB's sport sedan performance features over their proven standard car such as:

quick ratio rack & pinion steering w/sport leather grip steering wheel, 4 Bilstein gas pressure shocks, stiffer rear springs, tachometer w/clock, aluminum alloy "soccor ball" wheels with center caps, OEMPirelli CN36 Cinturato large section radial tires, factory front air dam/spoiler, special model seat upholstery & color with rear seat folding center arm rest and the EMS badging.

This particular car also has the rare option of a factory sliding sunroof with pop up wind deflector.

Safetycage unibody Swedish steel construction known for it's roll over protection and heavy duty double front A-arm suspension with strong, well located rear axle design.

SAABs of this period design are well known in both European & North American rally & racing circles as competitive & winning cars. Several SCCA Pro Rally & Showroom Stock championshipsawarded.

This sporting car has had an enthusiast's ownership & care. Very clean & detailed interior (new headliner & dash top) with excellent condition "red brick" seat upholstery, carpet & trim panels.

Engine compartment has been cleaned & repainted & shows its original equipment. Suspension & undercarriage also of high detail & cleanliness.

The Sterling Silver Metallic does have some minor understandable nicks & chips showing the age of the car & shows well. It could use a professional buffing to fully renew it's color & luster. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would call it a 7 1/2 at this time. A couple of paint bubbles on left rear 1/4 & back end.

This is a fine, collectable example of a unique car that still gets thumbs up compliments by both casual lookers & knowledgeable enthusiasts.

Starts, steers, runs & stops as it should. Feels tight & positive. You can drive it enthusiastically or docile. A solid, enjoyable car.

All glass is original & very nice. All gauges, switches, interior & exterior lights work properly. Clock keeps correct time.

Seat heaters disconnected, rear window defroster gets power but does not clear. Seats slide & recline as designed with rear seat fold-down feature for increased trunk capacity.

The 4 speed "King Kong" transmission shifts butter smooth with proper working syncros. clutch is great. Recent valve job with 165 lbs equal compression. Recent water pump rebuild by ScanWest, Seattle's experienced leading SAAB repair facility. Flywheel resurfaced & balanced with fresh pressure plate & disc. Rear main & front timing cover seals renewed. Radiator cleaned & flushed w/ new coolant, t-stat, rad fan sensor, heater & radiator hoses of course.New rad cap. Dash mounted manual radiator fan switch added. Trans oil changed as with engine oil & filter.

All suspension bushings, CV boots, steering rack boots inspected & renewed where necessary. New rear brake pads, fronts 75% remaining, parking brake holds well. Brake fluid flushed & renewed. New wiper blades with proper wiper/washer functions. New STARLA muffler & pipes & hangers. New fuel & air filters also. Recent new battery & alt belt.

One key fits ignition & all locks. Reverse lock-out feature neutered. 120 MPH speedometer w/ resettable trip odo work correctly. Just turned over 89,000 miles Period radio/tape deck removed.

Soccor ball w/ OEM specification Pirelli CN36 Cinturato for spare, lugwrench w/jack & handle in trunk.

Car runs on 87 & higher gas. Good fuel mileage.

Clear title & registration in Washington State, tabs good thru September 2016. Qualifies for collector vehicle status in most states.

Offering on Ebay auction starting at $6800.00. Reasonable reserve.
