Description
Frame off restoration 7 years ago. New wiring, tires, interior and complete rebuild on engine. All new engine gaskets from Olson Gaskets, Vacuum tank rebuilt. Engine has a new Zenith updraft carberator .
Interior done in period mohair material. Handles have been replaced with stainless reproduction handles that are correct reproductions. Interior also features shades on rear and side windows. All window felts have been replaced and all windows function. Windows have been updated to safety glass. Body was manufactured by the Budd body company. Nameplate is still under the rear seat. Dashboard has been professionally wood grained and windshield still tips out. Brake and clutch pedals feature the Erskine name molded in. The exterior has been hand pin striped and painted in period colors.
This Erskine attended the Milwaukee Masterpiece Concours in 2015 and has participated in many area shows. Included in the sale is the original manual, an original dealer parts book, an original newspaper ad from 1927 when the Erskine was first marketed and other literature. car was featured in the Antique Studebaker Club Review in May-June 2015.Car runs and drives and stops as well as a 1929 car would.
This Erskine bears all original Erskine markings. The Erskine was name after Albert Erskine the President of Studebaker. Upon his death after the market crash, some returned the cars to the dealers to have the name removed and Studebaker S applied to the hubcaps and grill. The Erskine featured a three shoe brake system which is unusual.
The starting switch and head light have been moved under the dash to a newer switch. The original switch still exists but needs to be repaired.
