1951 Studebaker Starlight Coupe Resto-Mod
CIVILIZED, RELIABLE, MODERN
1951 Studebaker Professionally Installed on modern GM chassis
This 1951 Studebaker Resto-Mod is located in dry, central California; it is original and rust free. I am 3rd owner of this Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe, Purchased new at Art Palmer Studebaker, Highway 395, Vista California.
This resto-mod began with a late-model, low mileage Chevy compact pickup. The frame was carefully blasted, sealed, and painted with Nason Black Polyurethane. BellTech™ Sport drop spindles & lowering springs and KYB Street Performer™ gas shocks were installed. Brakes were rebuilt, and new 20" forged alloy IROC rims and Pirelli P-Zero tires (275/40, 245/35) were installed 600 miles ago.
The Studebaker was fitted to the OEM frame, then disassembled and treated to a 3 year rotisserie restoration, including new glass, interior, headliner, carpet, weatherstrip molded rubber window gaskets, and Nason 2-stage high pigment paint. New exhaust with stainless and carbon fiber accents. Custom silver hood ornament, and RARE OEM factory optioned front fender accent perches. Once painted, the car was assembled as original, including original welting on rear fenders, window channels, chrome and brightwork.
The entire car has Dynamat® sound deadening, keeping it quiet and cool. The GM dash gauges fit perfectly into the stock dash opening. The complete OEM wiring harness, computers, dash gauges and GFA remain untouched and intact to preserve electrical integrity.
To keep the car civilized and comfortable, the Vortec engine and 4 speed automatic trans remain largely stock (many engine and trans upgrade accessories are available for these cars). The car is smooth and quiet at 80mph freeway speeds, and has a new Optima 'red-top' battery and flex-a-lite fan. The car runs cold with great oil pressure and awesome power for this light weight vehicle.

- New tires, brakes, wheels, exhaust, interior, glass, molded window gaskets, window channel, weatherstrip, fuel lines.
