TWO (2) 1950 Studebakers
Description
I have TWO 1950 Studebaker "bullet-nose" sedans for sale. The first is is a Landcruiser in repairable "barn-find" condition. The second is a Commander with solid body steel, that can be used for spare parts. I am offering BOTH CARS for a combined price of $4,499. My wife's grandfather bought the Landcruiser brand-new in 1949. He then bought the Commander in the late '50s as a parts car, and kept both of them. The Landcruiser was driven until the mid-1980s, and then parked in the barn. I've had it parked inside our shed for the past 10+ years, with the hope of restoring it one day. However, we are now moving, and I will not have the space or time to work on it. Last summer, a former Studebaker mechanic helped me to get it started. There is a leak in the gas tank and a leak in the radiator. So, we only let it run for about 30 seconds. But, the engine sounded good. The Commander was damaged in an accident before it was ten years old, and it has virtually no rust. The nice thing is that the quarter panels and the front and rear-end body parts are interchangeable with the Landcruiser. Only the Landcruiser's cabin was stretched by 4 inches, as the "luxury" model Studebaker of the time. So, the Commander has good steel to swap onto the Landcruiser (if you look closely at the photos, you'll see that we've already substituted the Commanders blue rear fenders onto the Landcruiser). Some other features of the car: "suicide" doors; flathead straight 6 motor; 3 speed manual transmission on the column; 6-volt electric system; push-button AM radio; good window glass; and generally good chrome. I also have the original owner's manual, a complete shop manual, and a magazine advertisement from the time. This would be a great project car, a fun car to drive with the family, and a terrific car to show off in parades and car shows. (Also for sale locally and on other sites).
