This beautiful street rod started life as a '47 Studebaker Champion Convertible. It's been modernized and customized with the following:
A reinforced newer Studebaker “X” member frame (provides solid, total body support)
The unique Bulletnose front clip is from a ’50 Studebaker Champion
Beautifully modified ’48 dash houses the Vintage Air heating and cooling unit without unsightly exterior knobs.
For a more sleek appearance, its manual convertible top has been chopped 3 inches.
Quarter panels have been welded on and beautifully detailed where they meet the body.
Deck lid and hood has been shaved and underside of hood and engine compartment appears as nice as its exterior.
Recessed tail lights and custom rear panel (replacing former bumper) finishes off the rear.
A 350 GM with aluminum Weiand intake manifold and 750 CFM Carter carburetor provides power to a turbo 350 GM transmission which powers a 8 inch Ford rear end.
Cooling is via Ron Davis aluminum radiator with Doug Hanson custom shroud.
A Mustang suspension with manual rack and pinion and rear leaf springs provides a very comfortable ride.
Front aluminum wheels are 7X15 inch with 8 X 15 inch in the rear.
Located in front of the GM tilt steering column and La Cara custom steering wheel.
All new gauges.
Power windows, power (popper) door locks are thanks to Digital Dakota and Painless wiring kits.
A custom console houses the four power window switches and right door release.
Door poppers provide access with a hidden emergency release under the left rocker panel.
Also hidden is the emergency brake handle.
Lights, heat/A/C controls/wiper switches are below dash out of sight.
Power front seats are in striking red leather with matching back seat.
The whole body is rust free and is SUPER straight.
This car cruises comfortably at 75-80 MPH.
The odometer reads 9,800 miles, and is regularly driven.
Underside is clean (see photos), shows no sign of oil leaks
