Description
This is my beloved Samurai. I am a Samurai and Porsche wacko. 45 Porsches and, this, my 5th Sammy. I buy them to tow behind my motorhome.
WHY SELLING:Selling reluctantly for 3 reasons. Lost my 6 car garage so toys have to leave in favor of practical and collectible. Confronted with big tax bill and need cash instead of cars. Retiring from motor homing and selling one Porsche and the "TOAD".
MILEAGE AND CARE:This car shows 32,000 plus on the odo. That equates to 132,000. Each of the 2 previous owners used it as a "TOAD" as well. It can't be documented but it is strongly believed that 50 to 75 of the mileage is under tow. I have towed it nearly 7000 in the brief time I've owned it. The owner prior to me had is over 15 years and lived on the road. He estimates another 40k. Prior to that I am not including an estimate but it is thought to be as much as 20k. Each owner cared for it and serviced it with commitment.
EXTERIOR:The previous owner painted it orange because he loves orange and wanted it for safety. It is a wonderful paint job and done correctly. Door jambs, wheel humps, interior, etc. The only place the original metallic turquoise paint appears is under the hood.
INTERIOR:Interior is so remarkable it looks brand new. There are no flaws at all on seats including the totally intact rear seat. Door panels nearly perfect as well. If you know Samurai interiors this one is shocking.
EXTRAS:Car also equipped with standard tow bar which swings up and stabilizes as the pix will show. It can be removed in 5 minutes. Also equipped with winch.
MECHANICAL: Everything works. Runs like a top. Samurai people will grin at that because the engines are like a top. Does not drop or use any oil. Tranny great. Barely touching the key lights it up every time. Samurai guys grin again. 4 wheel drive fully functional by shifting case and turning wheel levers. Takes less than 5 minutes.
TIRES:Oversize wheel and tires with tons of rubber on them.
TOP:The 2 piece top can actually be put on by one person with ease. The one piece top can't be put on by a committee in a month. Buy a 2 piece top. Also, 2 piece gives you the option of covering passenger compartment and leaving the rear open.
MODIFICATIONS: Absolutely 100% stock unmodified no weirdness or junk on this car. Big tires only non-stock item and I'm proud of the history, care and restraint used on this vehicle..
BEWARE CALIFORNIANS: Take notice. The car has been brought to Ca for ease of sale. More potential buyers and a broader audience base as well as easier to show. This is NOT a Ca car and I am not a CA seller. I sympathize with your DMV/SMOG problems but they are not mine. This vehicle is registered in Montana with a clear title (see photo). The car was a resident of Ca. it's whole life until I took it to Montana two years ago. There is no reason to believe it won't smog in Ca. because it passed smog there it's whole life ago. However, Samurai's are known to be a difficult smog in Ca. the older they get. I am not warranting or taking any responsibility for your future registration problems if they exist. I have every confidence that it would pass and the simplicity of the motor would be an easy fix for timing or whatever. I am selling the car "AS IS'. If you buy the car it comes with no warranty or responsibility for your registration issues. The reason I am making this statement is that I sold a car on eBay a year ago to someone in Ca. who thought I had a responsibility. If you are Ca I would recommend bidding expecting to do a tuneup to pass smog then being happy when it passes without a tuneup.
IN SUMMARY: This is remarkable example of this make/model of car. If you buy it you just might have it forever. My second favorite car of all time and deservedly so. These cars go anywhere and do anything and love it. You will love it too.
Ask questions I will respond promptly.
I apologize about the photos. I don't know how to remedy the initial size. Am consulting with ebay to fix it. If you scan them they expand.
