Description

You are bidding on a 1979 Toyota 4-WD truck. 1979 was the first year that the Toyota factory offered the 4x4 factory option in the Toyota compact pick-up chassis. As you can see by the pictures this is a very well kept original body Toyota 4x4. I was a friend of the original owner and he had to go to Minneapolis to buy it, back in 1979, so I am the second owner and this truck has been in North Dakota it's whole life.
This truck had been sitting for over 10 years until I got it so it has not been driven much for the last 15 years. The things I have done to it recently is put in a new clutch, clutch cable, pressure plate and throw out bearing. New 4x4 drive shaft and rear u-joint. New battery. Attached new electric fuel pump to frame like they do with Baja's instead of in tank.
The wiring in this truck is really great, as it appears only the fuel gauge is not working. There are allot of original parts on this truck....the original spare tire has never been removed, the original jack in the back that bolts down. As far as the 20R engine goes I'm not sure on it being original or not, but I had to replace the tranny as a u-joint from the 4x4 drive shaft flew apart and put a hole in the tranny, so another transfer case came with the used tranny so I just bolted the whole works in together...I still of course have the original transfer case.
The mileage on the truck shows 60,074 but I'm pretty sure it has been turned over once. The only minor thing right now is the radiator tank seeps on top a little so that should eventually be fixed but you can drive it on short trips all week long before you need to check it.
This truck really should be restored... you just don't find 1st ever Toyota 4x4's in this good of original condition. I hate to let this truck go but I hope it goes to someone who appreciates the history of these trucks as much as I do. Good Luck Everyone!!
