This is NOT a Frame off Restoration
1979 Toyota FJ40 with 22,003 original miles.
I purchased the vehicle from an elderly Gentleman in Lehighton Pennsylvania in earlyJanuary 2011 with 21,601 original miles. The vehicle was delivered to my home in Farmington CT on January 29, 2011.
I have a copy of original title.
I had the vehicle transported to my home in Connecticut, registered and insured it, drove it a few weekends, and stored it in a heated garage until July of 2017.
The original owner used the vehicle to tow a small canoe to a lake, two miles from his home.
I have included a fair number of pictures, and I can send many more if desired.
This is exactly what I have done to the vehicle.
Radio has been removed for service.
New distributor cap, rotor, plugs, and wires
Fender flares were removed, holes tack welded and because I did not want to try and match 39 year old enamel paint I had the entire vehicle painted Toyota factory spec Green.
The fender rivets were just around two inches of the wheel wells, but enough to have to worry about matching paint.
New battery
All new hoses, exact original factory molded specifications with all original clamps sand blasted and painted.
Wheels sandblasted and powder coated a light cream color, which I think looks awesome, as compared to the stark bright white.
Radiator, transmission and break fluids flushed and replaced.
Factory power steering was added, correct original spec assembly and parts.
Interior has not ever been touched, original tool kit and optional factory rear heater.
Original floor liner and mats are intact.
The floor pans on both sides show the original factory glue that stuck to the felt pad. I lightly sanded some very minor surface rust with steel wool, and then applied rust preventer which is the black color. The steel is absolutely solid, and I chose to leave the floor intact, rather than repaint and take away from the original character of the vehicle.
This was due to the gaskets drying out on the side cowl vents, and moisture seeping in and dampening the felt underlayment.
Gaskets have been replaced.
Take special note of the manual where the original owner started recording all dealer maintenance records with date and mileage, including what oil was used.
Look very closely at all the interior pictures; nothing has been painted, all original.
Under the dash, around the parking break, the shift lever, all shiny factory original paint.
New Firestone tires, original hubcaps, not restored.
Pictures show all the original paint untouched under the dash, break and clutch peddles, and throughout the entire interior, mint, original, untouched.
Head was removed after 39 years because two valves seemed to be sticking. Two valves were replaced and once the head was removed it made sense to spend the money and do a complete valve job so everything is new, including seats and gaskets.
Totally new Toyota factory exhaust system installed.
Check out the awesome Beefy Fog Lights straight from Japan, I have never seen these anywhere on any FJ ever!
So in summary, Original 1979 FJ40, purshaed from original owner, who bought the vehicle at the local Toyota dealer, in 1979 in Lehighton Pennsylvania
Take special note of the original tool kit under the rear seat, the original factory spot light, and the factory cloth tie down cargo straps new never used.
Not imported from another country, not a frame off restoration. Original, genuine, rare, one of the very last that is all original.

I believe this is most likely the only and perhaps the last real original LOW MILE FJ 40 left in the USA.
