1998 Fuqi FQ2022S Rare Chinese FJ/Land Rover Mix 4x4 w/High & Low Range 5293 Kms
Description
First and foremost this is a Chinese version of a Toyota Landcruiser/Land Rover. I had no idea how to list this and I am sure FJ and even Land Rover enthusiasts will love this one! With this crazy 4x4 concotion Toyota and Land Rover are loosely related, sort of like Cousin Eddie to Clark Griswold.
That said, up for (reluctant) sale is my 1998 Fuqi FQ2022S...what is that you ask??
Well the best way I can describe it is that it is a Chinese cross between and FJ40 and a Land Rover 110. Short story is that the Chinese buy old blueprints and make their own vehicles when a certain generation of a vehicle is done by worldwide and larger manufacturers like Toyota, etc. This is one of those concoctions.
I bought this many years ago with the intention of building it but of course like many projects this one never quite seemed to get underway.
This is titled as a 1998, but there is no way I believe this to be true. I would place it early 1980s but it is titled as a 1998 so we'll go with that.
Yes, the odometer says only just over 5000 kilometers!
As for the engine, its a 2.2L (may be a Mazda knockoff) and I have heard it run, once. I have had a total of 10 mechanics work on this and only one got it to run, Subsequently, the other 9 have buggered it up and lost things (the distributor is out but I do have it) that make it run. I believe the best choice is an engine/trans swap to make this one come to lift again. Your choice but this is a pretty heavy machine for a little 4cylinder. Engine will turnover by hand so it is NOT seized. Once upon a time starter turned it fine, not sure if it has a coil to turn it over at this point.
Its a manual drive with a 2 stick 4-wheel drive system, very archaic so you may want to keep it if you like that sort of thing.
No key as that was lost a while back, a screwdriver works just fine.
Rust is on the rig but not terribly bad as it has spent a lot of time in my garage but it also spent its life in Massachusetts so it had some exposure to the elements.
It has half doors with hard glass uppers and a convertible top, all need work!
The original seats are included but I would think a good set of off road custom seats are in order.
You will need to replace a few lugs as if I remember correct one side spins the opposite way as the other and I broke off quite a few until that was figured out.
Tires are big but best only for rolling around but I'm sure this is no matter as you will be re-skinning everything on this rig including the wheels.
OEM brushguard that proudly displays FUQI! You will definitely be the only one in the city, probably in the state and possibly the only one in the country so get ready to answer a lot of questions!
Gas tank probably needs to be replaced as I remember years ago one after noon it decided to take a pee on my garage floor and the gas tank no doubt is a mess at this point.
It rolls just fine, steers good and go where you point it so long as someone is pushing it.
In all if you are tired of seeing the same 4x4s on the trails and want something different to build here you go! I have a clean and clear title to the truck so you'll have no problems in registering and titling it.
No Reserve!
I will be glad to assist any transporter.
I am sure I forgot something so please email me any questions and I will be glad to assist.
Please note this is NOT a Toyota Landcrusier or a Land Rover. It is a Fuqi!
