Up for auction is my 1985 Toyota lowered short bed pickup truck with 239,500 miles on it, this truck runs and drives but it is in need of a lot of work like almost all of the early 80's pickup trucks do to excessive rust because of the bad metal used to make them and because of its age. I have had this truck for the last 10 years and my father bought it from the original owner in 1990 so I know most of its history. the best thing about this truck is that 6 years ago I found a bed that spent most of its life in New Mexico and has very little rust on it and is solid, it will be hard to find a bed in better condition. I have put a new alternator and shocks in the last couple years and put in a new clutch 4 years ago. this truck starts up right away every time with very little effort, two pumps of the gas pedal and it starts. The Toyota 22re motor is a workhorse and is still running well but leaks some oil. so now lets get to the bad, the carburetor needs work, it runs way to rich and burns way too much fuel, the exhaust needs to be fixed, needs a new muffler and new exhaust hangers. the frame is really rusted, I have already had to repair it on the driver side by the leaf springs, it seems to be holding up since I did the repair 4 years ago. The windshield is cracked and the fenders and hood have small dents and some rust.the cab is rusty as well and I have done some work on the fenders, hood and wheel well. the transmission shifts well but the throw bearing makes a squealing howling noise every once in awhile when releasing the clutch between 1st and second gear, I put new fluid in the transmission lately and it has reduced significantly but still makes a noise now and again. this truck is a project and it will need more work. this is a fun truck but it comes with a lot of work and patience. this truck would not be a daily driver until a lot of these issues are addressed, recently my main car broke down and I drove it for 3 weeks every day and put about 800 miles in that time which is more miles than I have put on it in 5 years so it can drive and go long distances at time but like I said it needs work and do not buy this truck to be a daily driver unless you understand and are willing to put in the work. I will not part out tis truck, you must purchase the whole thing, if you want to restore it or use to help restore another truck that is up to you. the engine is worth $400 and the bed is worth $600 if I wanted to part this out, but i want to sell the whole thing to someone to restore it or use it to restore another truck. It has a lot of problems so its is sold as is. Buyer must beware that this sale is final no returns. I have been as up front as possible about this truck. Happy bidding!
