Description

Relisted—New even lower price PLUS comes with clear CO title in my name, ready to sign over to buyer.

1987 Diesel Toyota LandCruiser Troop Carrier. Left hand drive model BJ75, has the 3B 3.4 liter diesel motor + H55 5-speed transmission, a little over 150k miles (247k km) on it. Buy it to restore, or drive as-is and enjoy it!

I bought it in Europe, and imported it myself. Completely legal import, meets all Federal EPA, Customs, and NHTSA requirements for vehicles over 25 years old. Currently located, registered, and insured in Colorado. I'm only selling it because I found an even nicer one for myself.

Motor runs good. No weird leaks or noises or anything. Starts right up. Shifting is tight, doesn't pop out of gear or anything, no strange gearbox noises. Steering, brakes, suspension, etc. all seem decent, but it's an old car and everything should probably be checked before prolonged use. I'm sure the shocks are probably old, and the springs ride firm when the car is empty. Does have some rust in a couple places on the body, but it’s not rampant and replacement panels are readily available should the buyer choose to address it. The front seats, though not original, present fairly well. Rear interior is completely empty and ready for expedition build. This Troopy is somewhat cosmetically challenged, but mechanically seems OK. There's no serious rust on the frame or underbody that I could see, what bits of rust there is are limited to sheet metal. There are a couple panels on the car that have been repainted, but most have original paint. I believe the "Jihadi Edition" decals are original, as is the gold pinstripe down the side--I'm assuming it was just marketing since the car was sold new in Europe, not the Middle East.Tires have been replaced since the car was last listed for sale, and are in much better condition than the ones that were on there before. They are tube types on the original split rims.

Just to save time, here are answers to some common questions: No, it doesn't have a/c, and it doesn't have a turbo. It doesn't have cruise control, or heated seats, or antilock brakes. No power door locks, or power windows. No radio or speakers. No USB. It doesn't even have a buzzer to tell you that you forgot to put your seat belt on. In fact, you could make a very long list of the things it doesn't have. It is a very rugged, but very basic vehicle, built to go anywhere. It's not super quick. Think tortoise, not hare. Comfortable cruising speed on the highway is maybe 65. You could probably push it to 70-75 to pass other cars (assuming you could find a slower car to pass) on level ground & without a headwind. It slows down, sometimes considerably, going uphill. Lots of guys turbo these, which should work wonders for the power. Haven't checked the fuel mileage, but my other (identical) Landcruier gets about 25mpg on low sulfur diesel--no reason to believe this one would be any different. The tires that are on it are tube-type on the original split rims. Yes, it's difficult to find a tire shop that will touch them--chances are a new owner would want new rims anyway. Parts are NOT difficult to source. Many are available at the Toyota dealer (you may have to find the part number online yourself before ordering). There are also many parts vendors worldwide that cater to these vehicles, and their prices are often better than the dealer. These cars were (and still are) sold everywhere in the world except the USA, in copious quantities, so there's tons of support for them worldwide. Can you drive it from here to your house? Maybe. It's running fine, but it's an old car. No guarantees that it would drive cross country without incident. Bring a AAA card or a trailer if you're risk averse.

Actual VIN is: JT1V0BJ7509002075 Ebay didn't like that number.

I've tried to be as complete as I can, but if I've left anything out, or you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. If you're anywhere near Boulder, CO, I'd be happy to show it to you. Thanks!
