1985 Toyota Supra P-Type, 5-speed, mildly modified, fast, reliable!!
Description
After collecting Supras for over 30 years, it's time to move on. Up for sale is my 1985 Supra (MA67 MKII P-type 5MGE) 2.8L 5MGE NA 5-speed, mildly modified, good/excellent condition, runs GREAT!. Owned since 1997, bought with 77,000 original miles, currently has about 139,600 miles. Occasional weekend use in last 13 years (no winter use), was my daily driver prior to that. White exterior, blue/black factory cloth (originally blue leather interior, which I replaced with OEM cloth (recaro seats) as the leather was very worn - original leather covers will be included).
Modifications and upgrades performed at 120,000 miles:
o Rebuilt motor - only rebuilt because head gasket went (typical issue), just did the top end
o Ported/polished/decked cylinder head and intake
o Jacobs ICE pack ignition, MSD 8mm ignition wire, NGK Iridium plugs
o Pacesetter headers (with modified O2 sensor ), Pacesetter cat back exhaust and Catco high flow 2.5 inch catalytic convertor
o Polished aluminum cold air intake pipe and K&N type conical air filter
o New factory springs front & rear, strut bearings & lower ball joints
o KYB shocks, new OEM Toyota Springs
o Pacesetter front sway bar (needs to be installed)
o Centerforce stage I clutch
o Factory technician rebuilt LSD differential (4.30 unit from an '84, not 4.10 unit that came stock in '85 which is also included)
o Replaced front & rear wheel bearings (not an easy job)
o Replaced brake calipers, rotors and pads
o Stainless brake lines
o Alpine CDA-W550 double din AM/FM/Cassette/CD/EQ, Alpine MRV-F450 5 Channel Amp, Alpine CHA-602 6 disc changer (under pass. seat, can be moved to hatch), Prestige 6.25" front speakers, Infinity 5x8 rear speakers, JBL 10" sub (mounted in trunk side compartment panel - see pics)
o Whistler remote radar detector (built in)
o Clifford alarm
o Amsoil synthetic fluids, polypropylene glycol coolant
o Hella Xenon H4 headlights
o Custom shortshifter with Momo SuperAnatomic shift knob
o Stock 14" rims with good tires (note-front and rears are different make, rears are 225/70/14, slightly taller than stock)
o Plenty of other stuff over the years that I can't remember
The car runs and drives great, one of the quickest MK2 I've ever had/been in except those with a 2JZ conversion, which was originally my plan as well. It's easily 2-3 seconds faster 0-60 than my other bone stock supra. The body is in excellent shape, very solid, but has typical flaws you would expect of a 34 year-old northeast Supra- minor dings/dents/scratches, paint is worn, chips in bumpers, front left fender flare has a gouge (easily patched), typical surface rust on sunroof seal, hatch wing, gas door, rear inner quarters (all treated to prevent further spreading), headlight trim "brows" deteriorated/missing, side moldings are wavy (typical-will include 3M stick-on replacement molding), broken power antenna mast (replacement hidden antenna and cover plug included), cracked left taillight and passenger mirror housing but functional (I may have a spare, will include if I do) . Interior is also excellent given its age - factory cloth seats have no rips or tears (passenger seat has a small stain I couldn't get out), dash is good with no cracks (some the plastic vents have some cracking), center console lid not original/recovered (OK but not great). Note-a mouse got in the HVAC fan and the rear quarter panel during a six-month period that it sat outside (otherwise has been garaged most of its life) - all debris has been removed and disinfected, but still may have some remnants/scent - needs a good interior cleaning. The underside may also have some surface rust from when it sat outside, I can see the exhaust tips got rusty during this time.
Pics show everything I can think of. I also have videos of walk around, starting and test drive showing 0-60-0 that I can share, just message me.
Mechanically everything works properly - windows, sunroo, lights, cruise, HVAC (AC needs to be charged) - only minor items are the rear sway bar needs bracket repaired/reconnected (currently not installed) and the power door lock works intermittent (I believe it needs switch inside one of the door handles). Easily a "Good" condition car according to Haggerty (see below) - with a little TLC, a paint job or dip, and a good detailing, you'll have an Excellent modern classic or a great 2JZ swap show winning Ferrari killer.
Haggerty Values: #1 Concours $29,600, #2 Excellent $20,100, #3 Good $11,600, #4 Fair $6,000. Supras keep going up in value, MK4s have been off the charts and the new Supra will likely continue to fuel the craze.
Car is located in Woodside, NY 11377. Sold as-is, where-is. Winning bidder also has option to purchase a rare, discontinued Erebuni 630 full body kit (see pic) for $1500 OBO as well as a second set of wheels - ADR Ryder G6 17x7 4x100/4x114.3 rims w/ 225/45/17 tires & HRE wheel spacers for $300 (both included free with buy-it-now)
My reserve is the opening bid, far less than I want and what it's worth, but time let it go before I change my mind. Buy-it-now available, offers considered.
