We imported this beautiful 1994 Toyota HiAce Super Custom (a full-time 4WD turbodiesel right-hand drive passenger van) directly from Japan last month. It has been inspected and driven a few hundred miles to ensure its reliability. It’s an amazing van and the most powerful of the JDM vans we have imported so far. Driving and riding it is a unique and cinematic experience, even when running errands. This one is under 100k miles and so its tough diesel engine is just getting started. Get this car today before they completely run out in Japan and the ones in the States are beginning to go for collector’s prices!!
This fourth generation HiAce (100 series) was never sold in the United States. As a Japan Direct Market (JDM) 4WD adventure vehicle, it features a big 3.0L turbodiesel engine, big windows, electronic curtains, and big sun and moon roofs for maximum ambient light and awesome views. The middle row of seats is reversible. The center and rear seats can be laid flat and connected for sleeping as well.

Specs:
Right-hand drive (if you have any concerns, we are happy to ride with you until you are completely comfortable. Typically, you will be confident in under ten minutes.)
Seats: 8 (middle seats reversible)
Engine: The 1KZ-TE is a 3.0L, 4 cylinder, SOHC, turbo diesel engine with indirect injection. Maximum output is 130 hp at 3600 rpm with maximum torque of 287 N⋅m at 2000 rpm. Redline is 4400 rpm.
Fuel efficiency: 20-25 MPG
Inspection and Repairs:
After a 3rd party specialized import 4WD 80-point mechanical inspection (summary available upon request) we are currently replacing the following:
Air filter
Fuel filter
Brake rotors
Some play was found in the front ball joints, so we are looking into whether they need to be replaced sooner rather than later or if they are still okay for now. If needed we will replace them with the upper arms (they are attached on the FT 4WD version) before it is handed over to its new owner.
As with all Javan Imports vehicles, this HiAce has no significant recorded repair history.
Known Issues:
-The two small moon roofs in the very back don’t pop up when you push the button
-Decals have some cracks and fading
-Scrape on the passenger-side side mirror, small scrapes on rear bumper and left side
-Curtains do not always slide smoothly when opening and closing with the electronic button
-Missing: middle headrest, latch on center console storage (does not impact use), side cover of hand grip above
sliding door. We are currently trying to source these components in matching colors from Japan
-Aftermarket steering wheel
