1973 FJ55 for parts or to restore
Description
Up for sale is a 1973 FJ55 project vehicle or parts rig. I picked this up from the PO in a deal to also get some parts. From what I'm told, this Pig was dropped off at a local Votech school over 10 years ago to be worked on. If you know Pigs, they rust like crazy so to see body panels in this condition is really amazing.
The whole body was sandblasted down and put in primer. The primer is almost all still intact with very little rust breaking through where it has been sprayed. Both rockers were replaced with either OEM or salvage yard finds but they are both in amazing condition. The inner rocker is okay on both but not great. It cut be easily cut and recapped with flat plate. The rear quarters were also replaced with OEM or salvage yard finds. The outers are amazing and the lower inner part could use some work. It looks like they cut and spliced by the rear windows. The floors still need work with the largest section being on the passenger side front. There are little patch panels throughout the rest of the floor. The floor crossmembers need work. The rear sill was being worked on but has not been completed. There is still rust/rot in some of the pillars. There were some repairs done on the cowl which look terrible and will need reworking. The roof is great with one dent in it. The rain gutters are in good condition but there are some areas where the seam sealer/compound is gone. There is so much done already that it would almost make sense to take everything off your rusty Pig and put it on here. Or if you've already started a restoration, buy this and cut the panels off to fit on yours. As you most likely know about Pigs, there is next to no aftermarket support for body panels.
The body is resting on a rust free TX frame. The PO ended up buying another 55 and using that body on his frame so this body was put on the frame that came with that body. It is set up for a SBC and it still retains a Turbo 350 AT and a New Process transfer case. I was told it had been going down the road but I can't verify the condition of the attached drivetrain. The same goes for the attached axles. I would consider them for rolling only as I have no idea of the internal condition. I can say I know it doesn't have the brake components attached and there are no driveshafts. The exhaust system is still in place that was on for the SBC.
I have taken a bunch of photos and added them to the listing. I want to make it absolutely clear, THIS IS A PROJECT. You will not buy this and drive it down the road in a weekend. What you see in the pictures, is what you get. The vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. The vehicle is being sold WITHOUT a title but I may be able to assist the winning bidder with attaining one. I'm more than willing to work with any shipper to get the vehicle loaded onto a trailer. I have enough land that if it takes a few weeks to come get it out of here, that's fine. Please do not bid unless you feel comfortable knowing what you are getting and have the resources to be able to pay for and arrange pick up of this vehicle. I have a ton of Pig stuff so I may be able to help the winner with other parts needed. Feel free to contact me at 732-778-5268 to ask any questions or come see the vehicle. Thank for looking.
