Description
1974 TRIUMPH TR-6 CONVERTIBLE. SAPPHIRE BLUE WITH BLACK TRIM AND WEATHER EQUIPMENT. 4-SPEED. STANDARD WHEELS. VERY NICE GENUINE CALIFORNIA CAR. 66K ORIGINAL MILES.
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this highly attractive TR-6 convertible in the rare and desirable color scheme of Sapphire Blue with Black trim. This car was recently purchased from it's longtime owner in Northern California who used the car sparingly with a last "on the road" registration sticker of February, 2000. The car was stored indoors for the last 16 years, but was started periodically and sometimes exercised around the owner's property. It is a perfectly straight, very honest, rustfree California car with only one repaint in it's original color. The body of the car is excellent with only a small dent on the LH front fender (picture). The panels overall are very straight and fit well with nice factory gaps. There is some previous repair to the LH rear fender where the paint has flaked off a bit, but could be easily touched in. The paint on the car is older and is showing it's age in some spots, with some fine checking along the upper part of the doors and fenders that face the sun. However, this is only apparent upon close inspection. The car looks very nice and presentable from 5-10 feet. The hood and trunk lid paint appears fine. The older repaint has mellowed and is in keeping with the rest of the car's condition, giving the car an original feel to it...The car's brightwork is good, with nice bumpers and light lenses. The car's very original interior trim has been improved with a black cut pile carpet kit. The car still retains it's original seat kits (small cracking on driver's side), panel kit, top pad and crash pads, dashboard wood (now showing some veneer lifting on the driver's side edge). The top is in nice shape and is a quality replacement. The windshield and sealing rubber is a newer, quality Triplex replacement. The top operates and fits the car well, the doors open and shut fine, and the hood and trunk fit is very good. All the gauges are functioning correctly.
The engine bay on the car is very clean, original, and presentable in it's original paintwork. It could use a very light, easy detailing of some of the components, or could be left as is. The engine starts easily on the key, shows great oil pressure and no smoke, revs well with no noises, and sounds very healthy through it's original-style exhaust system. The gearbox, suspension, and brakes are also in good health, and exhibits all the signs of a nice original, low mileage. The car runs and drives well on it's period correct Michelin 185x15 Red Line tires. All fluid levels are up to the mark with very clean oil and bright green coolant. The car might need a small servicing and a few knick-knack attending to after its years of minimal mileage. This car is supplied with it's factory original tonneau cover and top boot in black crush grain vinyl, original jack and handle, wheel lug tool, original service booklet, and a replacement Unipart oil filter.
Overall, this attractive TR-6 is ready to enjoy in it's largely original, approachable condition. It is finished in a desirable factory color scheme with an enviable California history. It runs and drives well with a believed low mileage of 65,839 and should be used/preserved going forward in it's "as is" condition. These cars are on the rise as of late, because they offer a great British sportscar package for very good value.
