I purchased the Herald in 2007 and worked on it for a couple of years.
Replaced:
Brake shoes; steering rack; wheel bearings; engine/transmission mounts; interior carpet; trunk hinges; timing chain; valve cover; steering universal; front/rear bumper set; windshield/rear window/ roof/door rubber seals; headlight/taillight seals; 4-shocks and rear universal joints.
Rebuilt:
Master brake cylinder; clutch cylinder and 4-brake cylinders.
Mechanically the car is in good shape for a 50+ year old car.Engine starts and runs well and doesn't appear to burn any oil. The 4-speed transmission shifts good. Clutch and brakes work good. Steering is tight and tires have plenty of wear left.
Car was dissembled and all chrome removed prior to paint job. Very little rust was noted throughout the car. 2 minor spots in floorboard were fiber glassed. Paint job was completed the end of 2011.
Interior is in good shape. Front seats were re-upholstered in 2010. I built the rear seat for my grandchildren, also completed in 2010.New door panels are in place and rear panels around rear seat.Car does not have a headliner (painted black). I replaced the original fiber dash with a used wooden dash. Wipers, turn signals, speedometer, oil gauge all work. I did not install the heater (loose in trunk) but the fan does run.
Top is removable (6-8 bolts).
Car is for sale locally.
