Description

This is a 1969 Triumph GT6 for sale.

History- I bought this vehicle in 2009 in Southern California were it had sat for about 10 years before we brought it back to life. This car has fantastic styling and they are becoming more and more collectible. This is arguably the best year to own of this model. I would love to keep the car but due to health concerns I can longer drive or work on it. The actual mileage of this vehicle is unknown due to the lack of history to know if it has turned past 100,000. Either drive it and work on it some more to make it nicer or this car is could be perfect in the right hands and a full restoration.

Body and Paint - This is a Very solid and straight car. The only rust hole that I am aware of is a small one in the battery box. The previous and likely original color was yellow. The previous owner painted it red with poor or little prep work done. There is lots of over-spray. As shown in pictures the paint has many flaws but I didn’t care when I bought the vehicle since I wanted a car I would drive anywhere and not worry about chips. I have another car that is very nice but feared to drive it regularly.

Interior and Glass – It has the original interior with the exception of the carpet which I replaced. Two layers of sound and temperature insulation were added as seen in pictures. The windshield was replaced along with the rubber and the rubber for the hatch glass as well. There is over-sprayon parts of the interior from the paint work done by previous owner. The dash top is cracked and seats are rough but could be repaired if desired.

Engine – Starts and runs quiet with no abnormal noises. The oil light goes off quickly after starting. I recently replaced the cylinder head with a rebuilt one. The timing chain, gears and tensioner has been replaced. The distributor was rebuilt at Advanced Distributors and now has a Pertronix electronic ignition. The vacuum advance and retard are okay which is rare. I added a spin on oil filter and oil cooler. Started leaking oil recently but I don’t know where at this time. If I were to keep her I consider going through the bottom end.

Exhaust - It has a Monza exhaust system that sounds great.

Transmission and Drivetrain– I had a unit that was rebuilt after we bought the car and just put it in. It is quiet, tight and upshifts well. It is grinding when downshifting into 2nd but I hope this will get better as the syncros break in since I have only about 15 miles since install. The clutch was replaced when we got the vehicle. The speedometer cable has been replaced but the needle sticks at times due to routing needing to be adjusted. The drive-linehad the u-joints replaced and balanced. The rear differential was inspected and resealed. The wheel bearings and Rotoflex couplings has been replaced. Car comes with spare rebuildable transmission. Neither transmission are overdrive.

Fuel System – The gas tank was clean but I cleaned and treated it anyways. The fuel lines have been replaced. It has a recent fuel pump with priming lever. I had the carbs rebuilt at Apple Hydraulics with rebushing the throttle shafts.

Cooling System – It has a performance Wizard radiator with electronic fan. The original radiator will come with sale. The electronic fan is wired to the demister switch on the dash since it is useless in Las Vegas. All hoses and t-stat and radiator cap have been replaced but the hoses may be due again soon.

Electronics – All lights and gauges work as they should. It has performance headlights. The alternator is a high output unit. The starter has been upgraded to a gear reduction. The battery is new. The dome light is LED. It has a good aftermarket CDplayer and 6 by 9 speakers behind the seats. I added a solid state voltage stabilizer for the gauges.

Brakes and Suspension- The complete brake and suspension system has been gone through after being stripped to bare metal as seen in pictures. The suspension has also been completely gone through with bushings, bearings and shocks. All new fasteners used.

Wheels and Tires – It has great recent alloys, center caps, lug nuts and performance tires. Original rims can be supplied at sale if wanted.

Pictures shown with disassemblyare to show some of the work done. They don't represent spare parts.Work listed above has been done since I purchased it in 2009. I would estimate that I have put less than 9000 miles since 2009. Questions and inspections welcome and encouraged. Vehicle available for sale locally and auction may be discontinued at sellers discretion.
