Description

Beautiful 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI MK1, Rare Red Interior with Royal Red Exterior.

Great overall condition for the year, especially the interior that is in awesome condition!

113k original miles, matching numbers, and accident free. This is an excellent example to add to anyone’s collection.

This is the rare GTI Non-Sunroof Model, which is often more desirable due to the greater headroom, lack of leaks, weight saving, and stronger/sturdier body.

The car was stored in dry storage for over 20 years by a VW collector, who recently passed away. A true barn find. I acquired the car from the gentleman’s family who had recently had the car serviced, and made ready for the road. Motor gone through and serviced, new brakes. Soft lines, hard lines, fuel lines, exhaust, and No fluid leaks!!

Solid car considering it is 33+ years old. Hard to find in this condition. Prices on these are on the rise so it would be well worth restoring the car if you chose too. The desirable Royal Red paint is original to the car, and in decent shape with mostly surface rust in a few places. Has some cosmetic issues, but nothing that cannot be attended too with a little love. Still shines. Worst is areas around the tailgate and front/bottom of doors, but overall very presentable, and an ideal candidate for a restoration, or enjoy and drive as is.

The red interior is like a time capsule. It is in great condition! With no cracks in the dash, no sagging headliner or missing parts and everything works, as it should. Best part of the car!

As far as I can tell the frame and underneath is solid and in great shape. It drives down the road fine, and everything seems to be in working order. Tight steering and Pulls great & shifts through all gears smooth, could do with the timing adjusted & hand brake adjusted. Four original Snowflake wheels with an extra Snowflake wheel, plus the spare wheel. Has original tool kit, jack etc. The California Licenceplate is just one I had from an old VW. The car is located in Hudsonville Michigan USA.

Overall a nice example of a Volkswagen GTI.

I am an air-cooled VW guy, so not so familiar with the water-cooled VW’s, and I want the new owner to be happy with the purchase, so please ask all questions before bidding!

If you have any questions, or would like to come and see the car in person please contact me to arrange a viewing. Happy for any inspection, and encourage you to see the car.

I have had a few similar questions regarding the GTI, so I thought it best to list the answers here.

-The Title is a Clean & Clear Michigan Title in the previous owner’s name, with a bill of sale ready for transfer to the new owner. I will also include a bill of sale from me for the new owner.

-As mentioned in the ad. The rust is mostly surface in a few places and small areas, not bad at all in my opinion. With the only corrosion through the outer skin on the front lower driver’s door, and a spot on the tailgate currently under a sticker I believe was placed there by the previous owner. (looks old) Areas around the tailgate lip are the worst for corrosion as mentioned in the ad, but nothing that could not be fixed.

-Solid spare wheel area.

-There is a crack in the driver’s rear tail light turn signal area.

-The exhaust is a full new system, however the tail pipe has been hung too close to the rear valance so at idle it knocks against the metal valence a little. Should be an easy fix and will look at correcting that myself before the auction ends.

-It does not have AC fitted in this GTI.

-The stereo and tape deck work fine, and original speakers seem to be working also.

-Looks to have never been smoked in. Both front and rear ashtrays are clean!

Any other questions please ask.
