Selling a 1966 VW Beetle.
Runs and drives great.
YouTube video of startup and walk around: https://youtu.be/0IPVtABZ55c
Engine is a single port 1600cc that starts right up and runs excellent. Only issue is it leaks a little oil like most aircooled VW engines.
The four speed manual transmission shifts great.
Brakes are new, and it stops excellent. Brakes have new shoes, hardware, brake lines, and drums.
Modifications:
Lowered bumpers
New trim
1" pie cut
Notched body
Raised fuel tank
Added steering knuckle
6" adjustable narrowed beam
2 1/2" drop spindles
Flat pans
Pop out windows
Jer-Fab 4" drop plates (Lowered one spline)
Short rear air shocks
Custom stinger exhaust
Custom built BBS RS wheels. Front are 15x4" and rear are 15x7.5". Wheels cost the previous owner close to $3,000 to build. New tires.
Electrical: It has been upgraded to 12 volt. Turn signals, brake lights, headlights, and fog light work. Driver's side headlight is currently not working. I will try to get it replaced before selling it. The windshield wipers also do not work. With it being this low, it's not really a car you want to drive it the rain.
Rust: Obviously it has surface rust on the body. The only bad rust I know of is where the spare tire would be. Pans are excellent since they have been flattened.
Interior is in good shape. Driver's seat has a small rip, but other than that it in great shape.
This is a turn key car that is ready to go. I have not had the car for very long. I bought it from the person that built it. When I bought it, the engine had a knock and had to be replaced or rebuilt. Since I had to replace the engine when I got it, I did not register and insure yet because I could not drive it. It does have a clean and clear Virginia title. If you want me to register it in my name, I can, but Georgia doesn't issue titles on older vehicles, so it would probably just be a bill of sale and a copy of current GA registration. I wanted to wait to see what the buyer preferred.
The engine that I put in it came out of my Bus and had zero issues. In the time of buying this car and having time to put an engine in it, I purchased a 57 Beetle which is why I am selling this one.
Frequently asked questions:
1. Can I daily drive it? ..... I have a 12 mile commute with flat roads and would not hesitate to drive it regularly to work. Mechanically, it is a very solid car.
2. Can it be raised?.... The front beam is adjustable and can easily be raised. The rear suspension has air shocks and can go up a little bit. The drop plates on the rear are not adjustable.
3. Does it scrape?.... Yep! Since the pans are flattened, it is not as bad as it could be.
4. Will you sell me the wheels? .... No.
5. Will you trade?... No.
Non refundable $500 deposit required though PayPal within 24 hours of auction ending. The remaining balance must be paid via wire transfer or cash in person. The car will not leave my possession until funds are cleared.
I am a teacher and have off for 2 weeks starting 12/21 and can be very available to meet with a shipper during that time. I do have a company that I can recommend that I have used.
