1974 VW Kombi Van Camper Riviera

I looked for some time to find as clean a van as possible for a project, and to enjoy some local car shows and an occasional camp up the canyons here in Salt Lake City.And this van has been the perfect find.I have been cleaning it up and making it better through the winter months, but find myself changing direction and putting money into my 1991 Vanagon (with a/c) instead.

I have insulated the walls and repaneled most of the inside, and I have scrubbed and primed floors, then covered with sound barrier insulation prior to covering with ¾” birch plywood, which I covered with a rubberized material to clean up easy and be easy on the feet, this avoiding spraying material on a floor pan and significantly quieted the ride for the passengers.I also installed a Empi shifter, which shifts beautifully and is a significant improvement over the original equipment.

Oil change has bene done recently

Has dual carb set up that starts and runs well

Brakes work, but may need bled, I have driven then as-is, but know they should be more firm

Riviera canvas in fair shape, could use a new one in the near future

Garaged for 4-5 years prior to my owning, and since my owning it

Spare mount and cover

New rubber floor mat in the front cab

Little bit of body work needed, much less than most other old VW vans on the market.All the normal panels, so replacements are readily available online

Drivers floor has a good patch job, which I considered fixing correctly, but someone did a pretty good job and has it riveted in place securely, so I have left it alone and simply sanded and primed

This is a great bus, and can be a great starting point for a future show piece or with a little love a daily driver
