Description

Selling my much prized 68 Double Cab, Smelly Sam.
I bought the truck 2 years ago with the intention of slowly restoring him but now a house move with no inside storage is forcing me to sell him. He's been stored in a dry garage since.
He comes in an unrestored condition and should be considered as a restoration project. That said, have been driving him around (in good weather) just to keep all his bits moving and whilst the he needs replacement front shocks (too bouncy) and a brake service he drives just fine. The engine is really good considering I have never serviced it, as long as the battery has a good charge he starts up first time and then after warming up pulls strongly and ticks over in a very reliable fashion.
It was dropped by the previous owner, too low if you ask me. I was always intending to raise him a bit to make him more casually drive-able and practical. As mentioned the front suspension is way to bouncy, I am not sure if this can be stiffened but either way raising him up a bit would be the best idea.
Chassis is solid but there are some welding jobs and body work on him as you can see from the photos, good news is the roof is in great condition. My plan was to deal with the worst of it body work repairs and then clear coat him and leave him authentic on the outside and then turn my attention to creating a nice clean and operative interior (most things work, the lights and indicators need some attention), I have begun to strip down the inside but I have all the parts.
That's pretty much it. He's on honest Van with a great engine and if you are looking for a straight forward 68 Double Cab resto project that you can mostly do yourself....................he's your van.
