1993 VW Diesel Eurovan with Weekender Interior
Description
This is my 1993 Eurovan with the Canadian 2.4 Diesel, Air Conditioning, Power Steering, and aftermarket Clarion AM/FM/CD/MP3 unit that is also Sirius ready. The van started life as a 5-cylinder gas engine with automatic transmission. As soon as I purchased it, the transmission went out, so I took it to my friend at 'Das Mechanic' in Madison, WI for some major conversion work. First, a 5-speed manual transmission was acquired, and the 5th gear was replaced with a taller road gear for economy. Then a Canada/Europe Eurovan diesel engine was acquired from a Canadian van and totally rebuilt with rings, bearings, oil pump, head, along with rebuilt injectors and rebuilt injector pump from Europe, and all installed in the van. A new AC compressor was also installed for the sake of comfort in hot, sticky climates. A set of 16" camper rims and hubcaps were purchased, along with a set of new E rated tires (less than 5,000 miles ago). Also purchased was a complete Weekender interior with front seats, rear folding seat for sleeping, two rear-facing bucket seats, a folding table and fluorescent light. An unused set of window curtains was acquired, front door visors, dashboard accessory caddy, new Curt hitch, and a correct set of Thule roof rails, complete with wind fairing. The van drives nicely, since the steering rack and other front end components were replaced right before I purchased it. It is comfortable, the AC works great, and mpgs are very good for a vehicle this size. The van is titled in New Mexico, but I just retired and moved back to North Carolina, so the van is now in NC. We had plans for traveling in the van in retirement (a part of our family heritage is 4 Type II Westphalia campers and one Vanagon Westphalia diesel camper), but illness in the family is now forcing us to make a change in plans.
The entire running gear conversion on the van has less than 10,000 miles on it. I would encourage any serious potential purchaser to Google 'Das Mechanic' in Madison, WI and discuss the work done on the van. I have 100% positive feedback on eBay, so you can feel confident in dealing with me as a seller. A $500 Paypal deposit is due within 2 days of auction close, with the remainder in cash when van is picked up. The van is for sale "as is, where is" with no warranty stated or implied - I will deal with a shipper for the purpose of loading if you make all arrangements and handle all costs. I do reserve the right to end the auction early in the event of a local sale, since the van is also listed on other forums. This is a great van, and I will truly miss it when it leaves our family, and I want to see it go to a new home where it will be loved and enjoyed.
