1973 VW Camper.Overfour year restoration, this bus is95% done (the only thing needed to finish the bus is to complete the motor rebuild). The body was completely stripped down to a bare shell. All windows were removed. The van was then completely repainted inside and out. The engine bay and inner wheel wells were also painted using a heavy duty bed liner type paint (see pictures). All of the window seals were replaced as well as most of the glass including brand new sliding camping windows. This van was a good running and driving van before the restoration. The motor had low compression on cylinders 1 and 2. The motor was disassembled. Heads were checked and were in excellent condition. The lower end was in good condition so the block was not taken apart or case split. All the motor needs is a fresh set of rings. Upon disassembly, all of the parts were meticulously marked, labeled and bagged to make reassembly easy. All parts are there, nothing is missing.
Motor & Transmission- As mentioned, the motor had low compression on cylinders 1 and 2 (80 lbs). The motor has been completely disassembled. Every thing has been meticulously marked, tagged and labeled. The heads were tested and are in excellent condition. Dual Dellotro carbs and new polished intakes. The Transmission is in excellent condition and shifts well. The CV boots are in good condition. All engine tins have been repainted.
Paint/Body- Full window out paint job in 2014. High quality paint was used. Custom pin striping. This van isa solid dry rust free West Coast bus. The floors are perfect, battery tray is solid. All of the windows and hardware were removed, (the body was completely stripped down to a shell inside and out prior to paint). The interior shell was then thoroughly cleaned and painted with a heavy duty bed liner type paint. The heavy duty paint is excellent for rust protection and sound deadening. All new window seals. New camping sliding windows from Mid America Motor Works(cost over $600). New windshield. Most of the glass has been replaced and professionally tinted. All new lenses, blinkers, marker lights, and tail light lenses. The entire engine bay is spotless and has been completely repainted and fully detailed. The undercarriage is spotless and the factory under coating is in excellent condition. The front and rear inner fender wells have been properly detailed and undercoated using bed liner type paint
Interior- New front seat upholstery and kick panels. Theheadliner, dash, front door panels, interior panels in the rear are all in excellent condition.
Other- New JVC CD player. Correct load rated Wild Cat 195/75 R14 all terrain tires 98% tread (cost over $400.00). The gas tank has been completely resealed and coated. Freshly powder coated wheels. New shocks and steering dampener. The brakes are in excellent condition. The rear bumper is included but not installed.
Thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours have gone into this bus. This bus is perfect for some one who wants to build there motor to there liking. Put a fresh set of rings or build the motor of your dreams. Easy to finish, all of the hard work has been done.... All parts are included to finish the van (see pictures).
Put a set of rings in the motor and you have a fully restored bus at a fraction of the cost... There are Zero miles on the restoration. I put a reasonable reserve on the van. My intentions were to finish the van but I haveanother project I'm working on and I need the money to finish it,so I have regretfully decided to sell this van.
*please note the camping bed has been removed.
