1957 Volvo PV444 Patina Rat Rod Project Car
Description
I acquired this car, just about three years ago. It sat, untouched, in a field, in Lodi, until I recovered it.
This 1957 Volvo PV444 has some character, to say the least. The surface rust/patina really makes it beautiful. I believe this is the last year for the Flat, Split windshield, as well. The body has been power washed and lightly scotch-brited, to smooth and preserve the look. Consider clear coating over it.
The floor is rotten, and is currently in the shop for the repair.
I've recently installed a working B20 engine from a 1975 Volvo 245...hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel, 8-bolt crankshaft, higher compression...this is the motor Pushrod Volvo people want! It currently has a clean, recent Weber Downdraft carb installed.
Included are two different M40 transmissions...so you can play with different shifter positons. I'm considering having the new floor built for the later style short shifter...which really does open the door for future upgrades, such as OHC Turbo motors and Borg Warner T5 transmissions, etc.
Suspension needs an overhaul...bushings are worn, and shocks could probably use replacement. Brakes also need to be rebuilt....this was a field car after all.
Most everything is there, to complete the project and get it running. There is a Delco 1-wire alternator, to simplify wiring....I already built a new engine wiring harness. You get both transmissions, and two style bell-housings, depending on how you configure it.
I acquired a interesting set of 17' Chrysler/Dodge steel Police Interceptor wheels, which the car sits on...tires aren't in good shape however.
The car needs to go! Currently located in Novato, CA 94947
