Description

No Reserve!

For sale is my 1980 Volvo 242 DL. The car has had the engine completely disassembled, tolerances checked, and rebuilt by me with all new rings, bearings, and gaskets about 5,000 miles ago. After the engine rebuild a turbo was added along with coil on plug ignition and multi-port injection. The ecm is a megasquirt v3.57 with the coil on plug expansion card. Exhaust and clutch are also new (clutch has 5k on it, exhaust is a simple down-pipe with magna flow free-flow muffler with a down turned tip in front of the rear axle). The previous owner has lowered it, and installed IPD suspension kit. I will include a link from the website I purchased the car from so that you can see what the car is like overall and I will include a picture of the engine as it sits now. The car does have a vibration/resonance between 2000 and 2700rpm which I believe is due to the fact that a semi-rigid engine mount was installed on the drivers side of the engine to accommodate the added weight of the turbo. If necessary I will provide receipts for the parts purchased/work done on this car, which totals, not including the suspension work the previous owner has done I have about $5,500 in just parts into the car.

The Megasquirt ECM does have the ability to control an idle air valve but I never got to hooking it up and programing it. The idle air valve is in the car and it is wired, but the hoses need to be run to the intake and it needs to be programed. The car does start cold and idles fine, but if it is is cold you may have to nurse it along for a few seconds so it does not stall, as stated before the idle air valve needs to be hooked up and programed.

Here are some links to youtube videos of a short walk around showing a cold start, the vibration as stated above, and a standing start acceleration run. You will have to copy and paste the address to your address bar in your internet browser.

(the exhaust no longer exits from the back of the car as shown in the video listed below. it was cut short and now dumps out via a down turned tip under the car in front of the rear axle, which seemed to lessen the vibration but not completely eliminate it.)

**car needs a new heater core. The core in the car has been bypassed being I was only going to drive it in the summer. The horn and windshield washer pump also are non functioning. Both front side windows have damaged tint due to the door speakers hitting the window if rolled down. The right fender has a dent behind the body molding (show in pictures), and there is a dent where the rear bumper meets the body on the reverseside.

Here is a link to the website the car was purchase from, a long with a lot of pictures and descriptions.
