Rare two door 1958 Buick Sedan has been reimagined in a more modern, sleeker version of the original. Retains its original three speed manual transmission and the 364 Nailhead has a vintage Offy tri-power intake and matching cast aluminum valve covers. The original stock air cleaner and valve covers as well as original stainless and accoutrements go with the car for those that want to return her to stock.
The progressive Carter carb trio starts and runs very well, even retains the stock Buick, press-the-gas-to-start feature. The stock points distributor has been upgraded to Pertronix electronic ignition and an electric fuel pump has previously been installed as well. Still has the original Harrison brass radiator. New rear wheel brake cylinders. The new, quiet dual exhaust system is only a few years old.
These cars came from the factory with soft fuel line from tank to pump, this has all been replaced with new by previous owner. The stock fuel tank was sealed and epoxied by previous owner and is trouble free.Brake cylinders on the front have been replaced along with new brake hoses. New sway bar links installed.
New Jamco 3-inch drop springs and shocks bring the car down in a menacing stance topped off by the 25-inch Toyo tires with 17-inch polished American Racing wheels bored to the factory 87 mm hub diameter. New side glass installed along with repair of the regulators including new cradles all around. New weather stripping installed in the doors, trunks and hood valence.
The entire car has been resprayed in a beautiful red (base coat/clear coat. 2K high solids Euro Clear) that is miles deep. New carpet, door panels, package tray, headliner, dome light, sill plates, wind lace, gas pedal and kick panels give the black interior a whole new feel. Window stainless was procured and firmly attached as well as updated stainless-steel inserts that retain the feel of the original with an updated look.
The original Buick scrolling speedometer still works as does the original mechanical oil pressure gauge and factory ampmeter. Fuel gauge is good but needs a new sending unit in the tank. Factory temperature gauge needs to be replaced. No clock came on the Special models (factory wiring is there, however). The dash lights were converted to all LED bulbs.
Newer rockers and weak spots in the rear driver side floor pan have been replaced with welded in replacements. Trunk floor is solid including the spare tire well. The five original Buick wheels and four Buick hubcaps are included in the sale.
