A TRUE BARN FIND 1958 CHEVROLET CAMEO!This Cameo was found about 2 years ago in a dusty garage in central Ohio by a close friend of mine. After a bit of negotiations the truck made its way to the House of Thunder Rats n Rods shop in historic Gnaw Bone Indiana (not really historic but just a cool name for a town). This truck was purchased by the previous owner in 1973 (yes the 1973 signed over Ohio title comes with the truck), the truck was his baby and on the road till around 1990 when he started to modify it. Through several years the truck was repainted, new 350 and 700r4 added, new aluminum radiator, newer 10 bolt rear end and a complete hack job on trying to install a a/c unit from a 80's Cutlass (I think). Well since she was so modified and none of the original gear was saved, I decided to do what you see here. Obviously if most or all of the original equipment was available I would have been more inclined to restore it to like new showroom condition. End of the story is that the loving feeling was lost by the previous owner through the years and the Cameo set for many many years till we pulled her out in 2016 then the fun began!
The Cameo was completelydisassembled, the new drive trainwas freshened up and put in a cleaned and painted pre 94 S10 frame. The frame has completelybeen cleaned and painted, all new A arms ball joints and bushings, new fuel lines, new aluminum fuel cell, balanceddrive shaft, disc brake rear end from a Blazer and all new drilled slotted rotors and calipersat all four corners.Engine is a fresh SBC, torque cam, Rochester 4 barrel, new fuel pump, new water pump, new chrome alternator, new stainless tube headers, new aluminum radiator and all new Chevrolet Pro Form valve covers and air breather.Body was in excellent solid condition with any imperfections fixed and shot with PPG products and cleared by my friend Larry Webb of Gnaw Bone Indiana. Glass is in great shape with all new seals, all new door seals also installed. All bumpers, grill, headlight trim, hood trim, and tail light trim has been re-chromed. Body trim and detail mouldings are in great shape and have been polished. Bed to trim strips could be rechromed but not necessary. The interior boast new Dolphin gauges, EZ wiring harness and all new wiring throughout, new electric wipers, shaved dash with custom Vintage Air system, GM tilt column, custom painted 1960 Impala steering wheel, custom air ride gauge mounts and a flat out awesome custom upholstery job by Jim's Trim of Martinsville Indiana. Devil is in the details, take note of the custom airbrushed kick panels on the interior...they match the ribbing of the door panels! The bed was finished with premium grade red oak that was torch singed (to make the grain pop) and shot with orange candy paint and 3 coats of clear. Custom inner fenders made from splitting a Harley front fender and polished stainless bed ribs finished it off.The truck rides on all new Chrome Ridler 650 wheels, 20x8 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. Air ride has a 5 gallon steel tank, 2 Viair 440 compressors and controlledwith Airmaxxxvalve and 7 switch controler.Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have that I did not cover on here. The truck has not been shown at any event so you can be the first to show it off! Truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction early.NO TRADES NO TRADES NO TRADES!
