Description

You are bidding on a rare barnyard find: 1981 FIAT SPIDER Pininfarina convertible, very limited edition TURBOCHARGED, with only 700 of these made! Less than 150 of these exist today, and one is actually for sale on eBAY right now for $45,000! So this is your chance to get a smoking deal on a highly restorable collector's vehicle!
History: In 1981 Fiat wanted to do something special to celebrate their anniversary that year, so as the ships of these Fiats was unloaded from Europe, a company named LEGEND INDUSTRIES (associated with John DeLorean) was hired to hand pick 700 cars off of the incoming ships and make them much faster than stock! ONLY 700 were selected, and this is one of those 700!
(Parts are easy to come by....these started out as bone stock Fiats, so ALL parts from the standard 1981 model year Spiders will fit! The exception of course is the Turbo unit, which are available on eBAY but harder to find if you want to do a total restoration.
FIRST: This is a WONDERFUL "Barnyard Find" vehicle! Be advised, THERE IS NO TURBO ON IT AND UNLESS THE TURBO IS IN THE TRUNK (THERE IS NO KEY TO THE TRUNK so we cannot check)_ you are NOT getting a turbo! In the early days of TURBO cars like this one, it was VERY COMMON for the buyer to not use the right oils so TURBO failures were common....this one has a nice FACTORY style exhaust from the engine back, but NO TURBO!
Note: We removed the passenger door lock per DEALER's instructions and had a key made that fits the door.....Dealer said it would fit the ignition...IT DOES NOT! So you will need to do the same and get ANY locksmith to make you a key to fit the ignition. (Cost us $30 here.)
The silver-grey paint is fading and the first picture appears to show dents....vehicle is NOT dented! It is an optical illusion!
It actually was way nicer than the photos imply but the convertible top was damaged by high winds when we had it on the trailer to move it to the farm. All of the metal on the convertible top is still there, and convertible tops are relatively cheap here on eBAY!
VEHICLE has been sitting for who knows how long: IT DOES NOT RUN! You will have to tow it from our farm in YAKIMA WASHINGTON.
Mileage shows 30,000.....have no idea if that is correct or not........see the picture of the speedometer.
Tried to get pictures of everything for you to make your own judgement......the floors are an unknown.....I do not know if the floor pans are going to need repairs or not. As with all of these backyard finds, please bid assuming they the floor pans need repairs.
Will work with you on shipping.....my son sent one of his VW buses to Europe, so we are very familiar with the usual problems with getting a vehicle shipped. We will of course want actual money in hand before we release it to you or your agent.
