Vehicle history:

Two hard working brothers from Portugal made a great life in construction for themselves and their families. Eventually they opened their own homebuilding company. In 1974, they decided to do what most other people they saw around their neighbourhood were doing… they got themselves family automobiles for road trips and summer holidays. They walked onto the lot at the local Ford dealership, where they knew the salesman. They had bought their company trucks from him. Once there, they struck a deal for both the brand new station wagons that were in the showroom. Both exactly the same, only in different colors. With these matching wagons, they took their young families on summer holidays for the upcoming years.

Many years later (presumably early 2000’s), one of the brothers eventually sold his station wagon. He got quite a bit more money than expected. The other brother saw this, realized the value of his car, and kept it parked away in the garage even longer. Now it wasn’t just an old car with happy memories and sentimental attachment. Now, he realized there was some collectibility value. This is the wagon that you see before you.

Eventually, we bought the old family wagon from the daughter and son-in-law. (Super fantastic nice people). The parents became quite elderly and had been in a nursing home for a while at that time. The old family house was empty and it was just time to start clearing out a few items and getting ready to sell the property.

General information:

This car is such a time capsule. I had some plans for it but, couldn’t bring myself to touching a darned thing. It even has the curtains on the side windows in the back. I couldn’t bear to touch them. The wife/mother had lovingly sewed these for the car when it was new. Because the car was kept indoors, nothing has any sun fading at all.

My young son (5 years old) calls this “The HAPPY CAR”. It just makes sense. You see, whenever we take it anywhere, it’s not like any of our other vintage cars. More people than you can imagine wave and smile, and he’s seen this over and over. It makes outings with this car so much fun!!! I guess this car is so un-intimidating and represents everything fun and 70’s vintage Americana. Everyone really loves seeing a vintage wagon like this one. They all love to come up and talk about it, and when they can’t because we are driving, they smile and wave. Hence, a 5 year old’s logic that stuck with us…. “The HAPPY CAR”.

Without doing anything else, or lifting a finger, I know the “Happy car” should win the Unrestored “Survivor” category at most car shows.

Additional general information:

Unrestored vintage cars are the pinnacle of the collector enthusiast. Especially those with low mileage. And especially-especially those from the original owners. I revel in finding them, meeting the people, and bringing these gems home to our collection. Finding cars like this has become exceedingly scarce and difficult but we’ve managed to do it enough times that we are now finding it necessary to clear a few out.

Overall condition:

We have found no rust on this car at all. Only thing we have had to do to it is replace the battery and fuel pump. Because of the fuel pump, it would sputter on long hills. And, that’s it. It drives great. Asides from some paint chips on the very nose, this car shines unbelievable. It’s beautiful. There’s no typical “aging” present anywhere. Underhood, it looks outstanding. In fact, if the odometer read 25,000 miles, I wouldn’t be surprised. I hope this car makes somebody at least as happy as it did us.

There are 3 small indentations/scrapes on the car. They are isolated to the moldings. One is on the driver’s door, another is on the passenger fender, and the third is on the passenger rear. By the time you are reading this, I may have removed these moldings and smoothed them out. None appear to have been “creased” in a way that would render them destroyed.

Also, there is a small area in the woodgrain that has lifted and peeled. This is below the gas tank filler door, just above the lower molding. I can cover it with my pinky finger. Once again, by the time you are reading this, I will have already had it professionally painted. I thought I’d like to point out everything I can think of though.

Details, details…

So I guess, that brings us here. We are letting the car go with very little RESERVE. Please understand, that’s a big decision. Only thing I ask is that you, as the buyer, please be considerate of our request for a simple and easy transaction.

SHIPPING/DELIVERY:

I’d say that, in our experience, most (maybe 75%) American destinations fall between the 15-hundred to 2-thousand dollar range. To play safe, please budget for at least that amount. We are running an unreserved auction so, the savings should help offset any shipping/delivery costs. Please also note that, as mentioned, my wife has become pretty adept at making all the arrangements so you get your car as quickly as can be.

Titling and/or registrationEverything is perfectly transferrable and will be signed over and taken care of for you immediately following the sale. It is free to travel without restriction and titling is universal. The only extra cost is a $120-150 customs brokerage fee. My wife has everything ready to go for the car, and will only need your information filled in, once the sale is completed, to finalize the ownership.

I’m happy to answer any inquiries, so feel free to write. I welcome and encourage anyone’s questions. We welcome 3rd party inspections, and encourage them. As well, we invite anyone wishing to see in person and will happily accommodate. If you’d like to speak over the phone, please let me know and we’ll arrange a call. Good communication is pivotal to a happy transaction. If you prefer to email me directly, write to bravohomes@rocketmail.com

Procedure is very important to us and we have a perfect little system that has proven very simple and effective in making everyone happy.

It goes as follows:

  • Immediately following the sale, I will ask for your buyer’s information.
  • My wife will fill in all the paperwork and title transfer.
  • Completed paperwork will be scanned and sent to you.
  • Once received, you validate the information as being correct, and confirm.
  • Then, my wife sends the banking transfer information. You’ll have 48 hours to go to your bank and make a transfer. (We understand oftentimes it takes more than 48 hours for transfer to go through, and that’s alright).
  • After payment is received, she gets to work arranging transportation/delivery.

Simple as that.

Now, just so that everyone is aware, we are not willing to deviate from our little system. We deviated twice, and been defrauded twice. If, for any reason, this does not work for you, we’ll assume that something isn’t “right” anyway.

Check our feedback.

IT IS YOUR BEST RESOURCE.

Each and every one is for a 30-60 year old car or truck.

You’ll see that nobody is just “happy”.

Everyone is OVERJOYED.
