You will have a blast driving this car! It is special, one of 50 black convertibles sold in the USA (there were 50 back coupes, 50 red coupes and 50 red convertibles) designed and built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing. Unlike other V-12’s of its time, this car has a 6.0 liter engine and delivers 318 horsepower. It has unique, specialized suspension that allows it to hug the road and handle superbly, making it a thoroughly enjoyable blast to drive. Writing for Heming Sports & Exotic Cars in May 2010, Craig Fitzgerald had this to say about this special edition car: “When we put together Buying Guides, we generally try to stay away from “one of none” cars…We also try to select cars that represent a broad spectrum of a particular model.. And then sometimes, we go right ahead and chuck the rules out the window for cars like the XJR-S. They are rare, exceedingly so, just 100 cars were built... And with the exception of the common body, it shares almost nothing with the Jaguar coupes….This is the ultimate in road-going Jaguar engines. Each unit is hand-assembled side-by-side with competition engines destined for race tracks of the world….Most people hear “Jaguar V-12” and head for the hills, but the TWR-tuned 6.0 liter was from an era when Jaguar had turned its quality completely around…” He is right. I have owned this car since 1998 and, in that time, have had one minor problem which Jaguar of Troy was able to easily and inexpensively fix.
I bought the car from my father who bought it new. The car has always been garaged, has never seen snow and has rarely seen rain. Other than tires and battery, all parts are original except rear bumper which had a minor mishap and was replaced. The interior is polished walnut and is in good shape with no cracking or peeling. The heated leather seats are also in fairly good condition with crinkles but no cracks. The car needs new floor mats and light work on the carpet over the boot and a professional detail for some minor scratches and one air bubble (on spoiler). In the photos, it looks like a scratch on front and rear bumpers-not there, must be camera.
Included with sale: original sales brochure, monroney sticker, two spare wheels and full cover, front end cover and convertible cover.
Mileage: 33,400
In 2 years this car will be 25 years old and considered a classic.
According to my research, they very rarely sell. The last one I could find was by Barrett-Jackson Auction Company in 2014 for $19,800. But it was a coupe, not a convertible.
