Like many Land Rovers the chassis was starting to show its age so we have carried out a frame off restoration on this Defender.
Even thoughit would have been far easier and cheaper to replace the chassis with a galvanised chassis we decided not to as it is a matching chassis/Vin number/ original enginevehicle.
It is an ex MOD Defender 90 so is fitted with the 2.5 naturally aspirated engine. Please note these are not as powerful as TDI or V8 engines and this particular engine does smoke. We can change the engine at additional cost but if it is being exported to USA it is best to have the original engine for customs...
It has had upgraded Bilstein suspension set up to create a far superior driving experience.
It has had a full inside and out professional colour change to Nardo grey
Below we have separated out the upgrade parts from the restoration work carried out/ parts fitted.

Restoration work carried out:
Investigate engine fault
- water in oil. Remove cylinder head, pressure test found a core plug leaking, replace leaking core plug, reface cylinder head. Replace cylinder head with new gaskets. Replace engine oil and filter. (this had to be done twice to flush system,)
(The above work has been carried out but as pointed out in the description the engine does smoke)
-Remove body from chassis for chassis work / refitting of body after chassis work
-Shot blast chassis, radius arms, axles and chassis mounting brackets
-Remove suspension bushes and refit with supplied superpro bushes
-Etch prime and paint Axle, radius arms and suspension brackets
-Repair chassis bulkhead out riggers and replace rear x member
-Etch prime and paint chassis in satin black 2k top coat
-Replace full exhaust system inc. new bushes & u-bolts
-Replace fuel tank (labour for swapping over tank fittings)
-Clean and prep under body for paint
-Paint under body in etch primer and satin black 2k top coat
-Strip clean / paint swivel housing and clean and paint rear brakes
-Bulkhead foot well repair to O/S lower panel
-Replace all suspension / some chassis and all body mounting bolts
-Drain fuel system of, replace fuel filter
-Pair of new front doors
-New door bolts and gaskets
-Windscreen rubber seal
-New door seals
