Description
1987 Range Rover Classic for sale! The first year imported into the USA. Has the gear driven transfer case, which is stronger but a bit clunkier than the ‘88 and beyond. Only 95,000 miles! Runs good, fires right up and in need of a good home:)
These are modern classics and have tripled in value in the last 5 or 6 years! Highly sought after for full restorations.
Frame is rock solid, no rot! No rust in the tailgate or bonnet. I’ve done a bunch of work on the vehicle and was stoked to find one but now I have to relocate and can’t ship it overseas!
Cambrian grey exterior with a light and charcoal grey interior. Original and in nice condition. Front seats have been dyed dark grey. Some wea, as you’d expect after 30 plus years. Wood trim can easily be sanded and lacquered as it’s solid wood. Paint has nice patina and a few dimples but no major body damage. Clear coat is gone on the roof but the rest polishes up nice. Hood has a spot on it that needs repair and a repaint. Again, not perfect.
The best part is that most of the electrics work! Power locks, seats, mirrors, lights. A/C works and the heater core was replaced.
Has new tires, battery, fuel pump and sender and all fuel tank hose, power steering hoses, trans service done, oil change, air filter, Lucas coil, newer radiator and MAF sensor, brake hoses and flush (but needs rotors, oil pressure switch, fog light switch, head light switch. I have new brake pads and hardware plus many other new parts.
Of course it drips some oil. Hello, it’s British:)Fuel gauge isn’t accurate and the aftermarket stereo with blue tooth is not working for the driver side speakers. Probably a loose wire in the back of the unit if all the left ones are off. Windshield and headlight washer doesn’t spray. I have a new pump for it. Wipers do work. Not smogged. Did a pre smog and it’s close. Replaced the tail pipe 7/2/19 so no rust holes to dilute the exhaust gases and she sounds good! Runs strong and smooth again! The catalytic converters are borderline, my muffler guy told me. Might just pass smog after a long run but replacing the cats is probably best.
It’s the perfect example to finish what I started or do a full resto on! Hate to let it go after finally finding one but shipping is too much. Comfortable, great visibility and that awesome, go anywhere Rover capability the other 4x4s only dream about.Even have the original owners manuals! Several owners to my knowledge and most of its life in California, as far as I know. Registration is paid to Jan 2020 but incomplete due to no smog. If you are in a smog free State, woohoo! No worries.
Has a performance exhaust, too.No low ballers or time wasters please! Real enthusiasts know their rising value, especially for a very hard to find ‘87.
Asking $9750. Ones in top condition or partly reconditioned are $20k plus, if you can find an ‘87.
Cheers!
