European Motor Studio is very excited to offer this very rare 1987 Lotus Turbo Esprit HCi from the final year of the original Giugiaro body Esprit. Finished in a very rare shade of Pearlescent White Metallic over Silver leather interior this Esprit left the Hethel factory in June of 1986 and is just 11 of the 158 87 model year Esprit's finished in Pearlescent White Metallic and three of them with Silver interiors. After leaving Hethel in 86, the Esprit... was then shipped to North America and delivered to West County Motor Co in Manchester Missouri. The car went through the PDI inspection on October 22, 1986 and was then sold to its first owner on February 7, 1987. The Esprit lived in Missouri until it was sold to its second owner on May 6, 1994 by Deal Lotus out of Asheville North Carolina. The car then moved to Carlsbad California where it would remain until the third owner bought the car from Symbolic Motor Car Company in La Jolla Ca in early 2005 and moved it to Las Vegas Nevada. The car was sold to its fourth owner in September of 2013 in Phoenix Arizona where it has remained ever since. The original Pearlescent Metallic White paint is all original to the car minus the lower skirt and looks fantastic. It still retains an excellent shine and depth. There are a few scrapes pictured on the upper rood just in front of the black louvers and there are a few small scrapes in the paint on the back tailgate and rear lip. The driver door does have some small spider cracks in the door edge and there are a few small stone chips in the front nose. The trim and bumpers are in excellent condition with excellent fit and no warpage to the bumpers (pretty uncommon to find). The interior is in outstanding condition. The leather is very soft having seen proper care and storage over the years. The leather is not hard and has not shrunk or warped in any area. The dash still looks great with no fitment or shrinkage issues anywhere. The 2.2 liter 4 cylinder Lotus built engine starts right up and idles incredibly well. There is no smoke on start up or acceleration. The engine has recently undergone a full rebuild 3,000 miles ago (2008/2009) with full parts receipts from JAE Lotus in CA. The transmission was rebuilt in 2003 with new synchro's, pilot bearing, clutch disc and clutch master. Recently a new distributor with Pertonix ignition, a new battery and a new high torque starter, new radiator, new front and rear suspension items replaced along with new brakes and new BF Goodrich tires. The car comes with a massive amount of documentation dating back to brand new with the original Lotus service booklet from the original owners services at the dealer and then receipts from the rest of the owners parts and service work to present. Even the original sales documents from brand new back in 1987 and then original sales documents from 1994 when the second owner bought the car are present. The car comes with 2 sets of keys, the original spare and the original Lotus service/owners handbook with original Lotus fusebox diagram, valve clearance sheet and the original Green booklet. A clean and clear Carfax and title are also present with the car.
