This numbers matching, rust free 1970 MGB roadster is equipped with an 1800cc, 4 cylinder engine, 4 speed gear box, dual SU carburetors and is finished in Pale Primrose Yellow with a Black vinyl interior. Features include the "Fish Mouth" style grille, chrome bumpers, a split rear bumper and unique steering wheel center piece (1970 model year only) 14” painted, wire wheels with “eared” knock offs, newer tires and convertible top, full tonneau cover, AM/FM Cassette radio and recent engine and brake system work. The smog pump, air rail, gulp valve and charcoal canisters were removed by the previous owners. A British Heritage Certificate is included to document the originality of this MGB.
Prior to my acquiring the car it had been repainted in the original Pale Primrose Yellow with a bit of pearl in the paint which adds life to the otherwise dull color. A new convertible top had been installed and never used, and a dash cap installed. New Firestone 175/70R14 radial tires were installed all around, including the spare. The original stow a way top was replaced with a far superior folding style top.The original tonneau bars, jack and spare wheel are also included.
In the six plus years that I have owned the car I have replaced the rear shocks with rebuilt Armstrong Lever shocks, replaced the rear exhaust muffler to include twin, chrome exhaust tips, and replaced the trunk weather strip seal.During last year I have rebuilt the head (unleaded fuel friendly), oil and filter changed, rebuilt the carburetors, replaced the fuel lines and filter, replaced the radiator, hoses and water pump belt, replaced ignition parts (cap, rotor, condenser, wires, plugs) replaced the rear wheel cylinders and all springs, and flushed the brake system.Powder painted air cleaners with new filters were also installed.I had the original seat belt webbing replaced and all hardware re-chromed.They now look and function just as when new.I sourced and applied the MGB stripes which were available from BMC dealers back in the day.
I am estimating the total mileage to be around 105,000 based on the 5 digit odometer. There is a crack in the windshield behind the center windshield support bar.The passenger seat bottom cushion should be replaced as the foam is worn. The rest of the interior is quite presentable.I am including boxes of spares which have a new water pump, new air filters, a couple of new switches, a speedometer for an overdrive equipped car, the original octagonal knock offs, driver’s handbook, workshop manuals and receipts since I purchased the car.
