1956 PACKARD DELUXE CLIPPER
Description
THIS IS THE BASE MODEL OF THE 1956 PACKARD CLIPPER 4 DOOR SEDAN. I BELIEVE IT WAS SOLD NEW BY EARLE C. ANTHONY IN SAN FRANCISCO, BECAUSE IT STILL HAS THE ECA LICENSE PLATE FRAME (SEE PHOTO).
THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY DANUBE BLUE, BUT HAS HAD A POOR QUALITY REPAINT IN A DARKER BLUE AT SOME POINT IN THE PAST. THE BODY IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH SOME MINOR DENTS AND DINGS. ALL THE TRIM IS IN PLACE AND LOOKS GOOD. THERE IS SOME SUPERFICIAL SURFACE RUST ON THE UNDERSIDE.
THIS CAR HAS THE CONVENTIONAL SUSPENSION SYSTEM WITH FRONT COIL AND REAR LEAF SPRINGS. IT HAS THE MANUAL 3 SPD. TRANSMISSION WITH OVERDRIVE (WHICH WORKS). IT HAS NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES, BUT THEY ARE REALLY NOT NEEDED. THE ENGINE IS A 352 CI V8 WITH A TWO BARREL CARBURETOR. THE SPARE PARTS INCLUDE A CARTER 4 BARREL CARB. WITH THE CORRECT INTAKE MANIFOLD.
ALL THE LIGHTS WORK, AS DO THE GAUGES (THERE IS A NEW FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT). THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK, ALTHOUGH THE ODOMETER DOES.
I AM INCLUDING MANY SPARE PARTS FOR THIS VEHICLE, BECAUSE I PLAN TO FOCUS MY ATTENTION ON A RECENTLY PURCHASED 1953 PACKARD.
